Occupational Therapist, Full Time Inpatient and Outpatient Pysch

The Behavioral Health Occupational Therapist provides therapeutic care and services to patients, including assessments, treatment program planning and implementation, related documentation, and communication of Occupational Therapy. BH Occupational Therapist will meet with referred patients both on an individual basis and through facilitation of group therapy. Conducts therapeutic activities and practices values and attitudes congruent with the profession's standards and ethics. Serves an adult patient population age 18 and older both on the psychiatric inpatient setting and behavioral health outpatient setting.

Qualifications

Education & Training:

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
  • Holds a current license to practice occupational therapy in the State of Maryland.
  • BLS Required
  • Acute Experience

Work Orientation & Experience:

Completion of student affiliations and internships, previous work experience in neuro psych population. The incumbent may require up to 3 months of detailed job orientation and training to gain specific capabilities to perform essential job functions and to acclimate to departmental responsibilities.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to access, review, and integrate information from a variety of sources to develop a treatment plan.
  • Verbal, written, and non-verbal communication skills, including the ability to instruct others.
  • Interpersonal skills to enable the therapist to establish and maintain rapport with individual patients as well as groups, as part of the therapeutic relationship.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of healthcare providers.
  • Ability to manage time and set priorities according to the demands of the job.
  • Ability to conceptualize and problem-solve in the management of the patient.
  • Ability to break down tasks into fairly detailed components in order to analyze the sequence of performance of functional activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and patients.
  • Ability to adapt hours of availability to variable and changing needs of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with patients and team members.
  • Ability to effectively use various pieces of medical and therapeutic equipment.
