What You Will Do:

Our Fairfax team is currently looking for a Assistant Project Manager to join our growing team!

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting others in developing, initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing projects.

Principal Responsibilities and essential functions

  • Assist in preparing proposals.
  • Assist in preparing contracts for clients, subconsultants, subcontractors and vendors.
  • Prepares or assists in preparing the project set-up process; including the PA's and WBS's for input into BST.
  • Prepares or assists in preparing file protocols and document control procedures.
  • Assist in preparing PEP's.
  • Participates in project kick-off meetings as required.
  • Assists in preparing project status reports.
  • Manage client relationships.
  • Makes recommendations on difficult engineering issues.
  • Apply new and creative engineering solutions to complex engineering, technical, and project management problems.
  • Serve as WMATA's representative for the assigned project with responsibilities for all phases of a project.
  • Manages a sub-section within project organization (e.g. BST Task or Phase Manager).
  • Assists in project monitoring through the use of BST, project inquires and reports.
  • Assists in project schedule control through preparing and maintaining project schedules.
  • Assists in project cost controls through preparing and maintaining cost reports.
  • Assists in project change control through preparing and maintaining project change reports.
  • Assists in project closeout activities.
  • Additional responsibilities may include other project management activities as directed by the supervisor.
Education | Experience:

Education and Licensing requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field

Training, Skills, Knowledge and/or experience

  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to analyze and solve problems efficiently and effectively.

Additional Notes

Generally, office work environment. May be required to work in confined spaces. Travel to work sites for an extended period of time may be required. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to independently travel and be physically present in the office or at a client site.
