To provide routine daily nursing care and services that support the care delivered to residents/patients requiring long term or rehabilitative care, in accordance with the established nursing care procedures and as directed by the Director of Nursing and unit managers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
1. Treats patients with respect at all times.
2. Assists patients with bathing, dressing and eating as needed.
3. Helps to serve patients their meals in their room or in the dining room.
4. Records meal percentages accurately.
5. Answers patients call light promptly and provides or obtains necessary care.
6. Performs Restorative GNA duties as required to include Passive Range of Motion, ambulation, transfers and upper and lower extremity exercises.
7. Observes and reports unusual symptoms, change in condition, accidents and injuries to the charge nurse immediately.
8. Makes beds daily and keeps patient areas neat and hazard free.
9. Handles clean linen and personal patient laundry according to procedure.
10. Assists to keep equipment clean (i.e. over the bed table, wheelchair).
11. Monitors equipment operation and reports unusual operational events to supervisor.
12. Attends staff meetings and applicable in service programs.
13. Understands and follows the "Residents Rights".
14. Request information on individual patient needs.
15. Obtains vital signs and weights as required, recording accurately, reporting significant changes immediately to the charge nurse.
16. Provides patient physical care in a timely manner.
17. Strives to improve all patient's independence.
18. Is polite and cooperative at all times.
19. Seeks assistance when needed.
20. Performs other duties as needed.
21. Equipment/Machines used: Blood pressure monitor, beds, wheelchairs and mechanical lifts.
22. Strives to achieve excellence of service as described in the CARE Manual.
23. Responds to Facility codes when called.
24. Responsible for honest behavior in all matters. To the best of the employee's knowledge and understanding, complies with all Federal and State laws and regulations.
