Job Description

Assistant Production Manager plans, manages, and directs the work of production personnel, ensuring cost-effective, quality production of products according to standards. They assist the Production Manager in their roles and responsibilities and oversee daily operations while monitoring production supervisors. The Assistant Production Manager also directs subordinates in achieving compliance with all applicable quality and regulatory standards, such as FDA and OSHA, and ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures. They promote positive employee relations with the union, issue disciplinary actions, and assist supervisors with write-ups. Additionally, the Assistant Production Manager maintains a safe working environment, participates in accident investigations, and promotes employee safety in all areas of operations. They also ensure the cleanliness of the work area and proper adherence to G.M.P.'s at all times. Other related duties are assigned by the Production Manager or Plant General Manager.

  • Assists the Production Manager in their roles and responsibilities.
  • Oversees daily operations and monitors production supervisors.
  • Ensures cost effective, quality production of products.
  • Directs subordinates in achieving compliance with all applicable quality and regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, OSHA, etc.).
  • Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Safety, etc.).
  • Ensures GMPs, SSOPs, Lock out/Tag out, and MSDS procedures are strictly followed.
  • Relieves Production Manager as needed.
  • Promotes positive employee relations with the union.
  • Issues disciplinary actions and assists supervisors with writeups.

Safety:

  • Maintains a safe working environment for all employees/contractors.
  • Participates in accident investigations.
  • Promotes employee safety in all areas of operations.

Sanitation:

  • Ensures production personnel maintain the cleanliness of the work area.
  • Ensure proper G. M. P.'s are always followed.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Education: High School Diploma

  • Must be capable of reaching, bending, stooping, climbing, pushing, and pulling as required in a production operation.
  • Able to read and comprehend the production schedule.
  • Able to view product and determine adherence to quality control standards and customer needs, including size, shape, color, cut, etc.
  • Able to generate written and verbal communications clearly and distinctly.
  • Able to read, comprehend, and practice necessary safety procedures, signs, etc.
  • Able to research, develop, implement, and monitor required policies and procedures.
  • Able to generate advanced, detailed reports via spreadsheets, memos/letters, email, etc., using a PC.
  • Performance of other duties deemed by management to be an integral part of the job.
