Job Summary:

This position is accountable for daily payroll processing in the payroll area. The incumbent in this position will support the mission, vision, values and strategic initiatives of Mary Washington Healthcare and must demonstrate a commitment to quality service to patients, physicians, the public and co-workers.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Maintains tax information, direct deposit information, and payroll deductions, including garnishments, child supports, levies - continually aware of liability for responding to court summons in a timely manner.
  • Processes terminations.
  • Responds to questions from Associates concerning payroll information.
  • Monitors and performs appropriate maintenance to Associate records based on daily change reports...department change, leave of absence, new hire, rehire, job change, etc.
  • Provides data to departments as requested.
  • Responds to Associate inquiries and provides time & attendance assistance.
  • Presents Payroll to new Associates in New Associate Orientation.
  • Provides time & attendance training to Associates & to Associates in a LaborWorkx Editor or Approver role.
  • Maintains manual of procedures and practices related to assigned duties.
  • Provides back-up for the Payroll Administrator/Lead for critical functions or Senior Payroll Representative.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years payroll or related experience, preferably in a health care setting for 1,000+ Associates preferred.
  • Working toward obtaining the CPP Certification, required
  • Demonstrated aptitude in areas of math and/or accounting, required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications, along with a strong orientation to using personal computers in a network setting
  • Ability to effectively and accurately manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment, required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex topics and interact with Associates, required
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively / collaboratively as part of a team, developing productive working relationships with diverse groups of people
