Job Description
Risk & Compliance Ethics Specialist, Allegations Management
Who You'll Work With
You will be part of McKinsey's Ethics & Compliance function, whose mission is to enable McKinsey's client impact and innovation, while managing risks to the firm, our clients, and our people. The Ethics & Compliance function is a globally integrated team within the second line of defense of the firm.
Since 2018, we have invested significantly to strengthen our risk management teams, capabilities, and processes as part of our ambition to lead our industry, and we have recruited some of the world's best talent to help. Among other enhancements, we introduced an industry-leading client service framework, which helps us vet each new client and guides our approach to engagements. Our commitment extends to our suppliers and internal systems, where we have improved cybersecurity controls, data and document retention, and process management. Annually, our colleagues participate in a rigorous Professional Standards and Risk training program, and we have a 100 percent completion rate.
What You'll Do
You will play a key role in driving our firm-wide Ethics Program by managing operational initiatives for the Allegations Management program. You will be responsible for the intake and triage of matters, identifying and categorizing matters across a wide range of areas (e.g. legal, regulatory, & compliance related), initial fact-finding, collaboration with subject matter experts and investigators to synthesize information and manage cases, and identifying relevant insights required to build out our world-class programs.
You will also be responsible for supporting reporting capabilities, and visually presenting information for leadership audiences. You will be instrumental in providing input into keeping our technologies and systems up to date.
Throughout the lifecycle of an allegation, you will work directly with multiple stakeholders across the firm on questions or requests related to the Allegations Management program. This will include helping to identify key legal, regulatory & compliance matters throughout the lifecycle of the matter.
You will also be responsible for ongoing tracking of matters and helping to resolve open issues, monitor, review, and test against internal and external standards, which will drive overall data management in systems for documentation, consistency, hygiene, reporting, and analysis purposes.
You will support the firm's disclosure processes on a cyclical and ad hoc basis. You will apply knowledge of policies and procedures to ensure our firm members are supported to disclose any potential conflicts or reporting concerns.
You will serve as a key contributor to refining our procedures, triage guidance, and related documentation (e.g., updating operating procedures, case referral lists, and triage documentation).
In addition, you may lead individual workstreams or projects for the broader Ethics team including special priorities or initiatives (e.g., codifying knowledge or processes, developing playbooks, team initiatives, policies, cross-functional collaborations etc.).
Qualifications
  • University degree or professional certifications preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant combined professional experience in ethics, compliance, and/or risk in a large corporate or professional services environment
  • 2+ years of experience in developing, driving and implementing holistic ethics programs including issue management, investigations, and system implementation
  • 2+ years in identifying legal, regulatory, and compliance issues and managing these issues through case management and/or investigations processes
  • Experience in a personal conflicts of interest program, including case management of disclosures through to resolution
  • Ability to raise awareness across the firm of critical legal, regulatory, and compliance related risks
  • Highly effective communicator with strong personal presence and credibility
  • Strong entrepreneurial drive and ownership mentality to progress on ambiguous problems and see them through to resolution
  • Exhibit highest levels of discretion and judgment in safeguarding confidential materials
  • Strong Excel, tableau (or other data visualization technology), analytical and data management skills
