We are looking for an organized, professional, analytical individual to join as a Staff Accountant/Loan Servicing. The Staff Accountant performs complex reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and Fannie Mae forms each month and prepares various reports for both internal and external use. The Staff Accountant is also responsible for completing a wide variety of accounting tasks and reports, ranging from routine to variability, on an as-needed basis. The Staff Accountant must be able to work independently to gather information, solve complex problems, and create meaningful reports for use by executive management.What does GTE look for in a Mortgage Servicing Staff Accountant?
  • Design and perform general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Design and perform Fannie Mae reconciliations.
  • Design, gather information for, and prepare ad hoc reports on an as-needed basis.
  • Seeks ways to improve existing processes to enhance the value and efficiency of accounting functions and reports.
  • Works closely with GTE Accounting Department on final reconciliation reporting and corrections for discrepancies
  • Works closely with auditors and examiners during audits, preparing schedules and researching questions.
Mortgage Loan Servicing and Investor Reporting:
  • Responsible for review of all servicing-related General Ledgers, working alongside Mortgage Servicers to monitor the daily and monthly activities, including reporting, remittances, disbursements of escrow payments, and reconciliation resolution.
  • Prepare monthly recap and performance reporting to assist in identifying trends.
  • Working collaboratively with Loan Servicers and other departments as needed to ensure processes align with investor guidelines, activities are reported accurately, and continually identifying opportunities for process improvement and efficiencies.
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage accounting, investor reporting, and/or cash management procedures in the mortgage lending and servicing field.
  • Knowledge of Ginnie Mae, Fannie Mae, or Freddie Mac servicing guidelines.
  • Work closely with all operational groups to communicate, research, and resolve data transmission issues.
  • Perform other duties as needed/assigned.
Lending Operational:
  • Must demonstrate a functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act in addition to other Federal laws, including but not limited to the U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act.
Experience:
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills to effectively communicate with the Leadership Team, management, staff, and outside contacts.
  • Work is varied and requires the interpretation of technical guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Analytic ability is needed to gather and interpret data.
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting concepts.
  • Ability to present a professional image when dealing with members, co-workers, management, and outside contacts.
  • Proficient math skills.
  • Excellent analytical and project management skills.
  • Adaptable to change within working responsibilities, be it internal, market, or regulatory-driven.
Required Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree.
  • 2+ years of experience in mortgage loan accounting, investor accounting, or investor reporting functions strongly preferred
  • Min 3 years of experience or a combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of Monarch
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Applications
Position Details: Hybrid
  • Location: Downtown Tampa - GTE Headquarters
  • Department Hours: Monday- Friday (8:00 am to 6:00 pm) // Saturday (9:00 am to 1:00 pm)
  • Full-time hours required, with additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects.
