Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking an experienced Resilience Planning Team Lead to join our multi-disciplinary and action-oriented team (open to multiple locations; open to hybrid). This position will support the Resilience Solutions Group at the intersection of planning, policy, and technical analysis in hazard mitigation, emergency management, and climate change adaptation. Related areas of technical focus for this position include but are not limited to vulnerability assessment, hazard mitigation, community planning, stakeholder outreach, and research and planning related to Federal agencies (FEMA, USACE, NOAA, and USFWS), state agencies, and local communities.

    Lead a team of resilience planners in the execution of inter-disciplinary resilience projects for diverse clients.
  • Coordinate with project managers and technical team members to ensure project staffing needs are met across the portfolio of resilience planning-related projects.
  • Oversee professional development, technical coaching, and career advancement of staff.
  • Support the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of new staff.
  • Support the monitoring of project progress against project scope, schedule, budget, and quality; allocate resources as required to meet milestones.
  • Serve in a technical leadership role on resilience planning projects, supporting all stages of project planning and execution.
  • Contribute to business development, proposal writing, and client management.
Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor's in Planning, Environmental Studies, Public Policy, or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Interest and aptitude in leading and managing teams and projects.
  • Passionate about helping staff reach their full potential through coaching, mentoring, motivating and development via technical project work and formal/informal conversations.
  • Experience leading tasks or projects for vulnerability/risk assessments, hazard mitigation/climate adaptation strategies, outreach programs, or related natural hazard resilience work.
  • Well-developed time management skills, especially the ability to handle competing priorities and complete high-quality, detail-oriented deliverables on tight timelines within a diverse work group.
  • Ability to perform an expanded array of tasks and continue to broaden experience and familiarization with methods, practices, and programs applicable to the department.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, resourcefulness, and tact in obtaining and analyzing information related to team management and resilience planning.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively with coworkers, clients, and our clients' stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide feedback, facilitate open discourse, and seek fair and equitable solutions to conflicts.

Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.
