Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Layer7 API Gateway Support Engineer to join our team. As a member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in supporting the design, development, testing, integration, deployment, and maintenance of our critical infrastructure components. The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical expertise in Layer7 API Gateways, IT Automation, AWS, Azure, GCP, and related technologies, along with a proactive mindset towards problem-solving and automation.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Governance Consultant Manager: Based on experience.

Pay commensurate with experience.

Systems Engineering-Layer 7, Gateway Support Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate with product teams to support product lifecycle stages, including design, development, testing, integration, and deployment.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support, including on-call assistance for all environments and night staffing for deployment support.
  • Offer system engineering and technical support for Layer 7 Gateway Support.
  • Support application development teams in establishing high availability applications and troubleshooting application issues.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings, providing agendas, minutes, scrum updates, and action item reports.
  • Perform initial setup and configuration of virtual servers, resource pools, health checks, and other necessary items.
  • Design and implement backup and restore processes for all resources, documenting procedures and conducting testing.
  • Create and maintain infrastructure diagrams, interface diagrams, and workflow documents.
  • Maintain operational manuals and documentation in SharePoint or other repositories.
  • Provide testing assistance and perform smoke testing after upgrades.
  • Ensure solutions comply with security regulations, Section 508 requirements, and USPTO standards.
  • Provide day-to-day operational support for Layer7 API Gateways, F5 appliances, and multi/hybrid-cloud environments.
  • Monitor system performance and respond promptly to issues.
  • Review system messages/logs daily to identify and address potential problems proactively.
  • Conduct detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for resolved issues.
  • Manage operational backlog using USPTO agile methodology and provide guidance to product teams.
  • Support routine changes and deployments, ensuring adherence to USPTO SDLC.
  • Coordinate with Firewall Admin team for routine configurations and ticketing.
  • Assist in F5 iRules creation and testing, as well as traffic observability.
  • Assist with workflow automation to streamline processes and fulfillment.

Systems Engineering-Layer 7, Gateway Support Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in supporting Layer7 API Gateways, and related technologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking concepts, load balancing, and security principles.
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation of deployment and maintenance tasks.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and repository management tools (e.g., GitLab).
  • Expert knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Relevant certifications (i.e - Cloud: AWS Architecture) preferred.
