To support the University mission through the development and implementation of policies, programs, and practices that attract, compensate, retain, and reward faculty and staff.

About the Position:

The Trainer and Organizational Development Consultant supports the efforts of the Organizational Development and Learning (ODL) team by providing training and organizational development (OD) design, facilitation, and consulting, recommendations, and evaluation for faculty and staff.

Responsibilities:

Delivering Training and OD Solutions:

  • Delivers trainings for faculty/staff to include, but not limited to: leadership development in supervisor boot camp and emerging leaders' supervisor series; sessions on StrengthsFinder, communication, and leadership development topics based on needs assessments;
  • Serves as cross-trained back-up for new hire orientations and other trainings as required by the director;
  • Consults with Mason supervisors and unit leaders on OD solutions; conducts intake and needs' analyses, designs, develops, and delivers solutions, and measures results; and
  • Plans, coordinates, designs, implements, tracks, and evaluates trainings related to promoting and ensuring the success of university diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.

Designing Training and OD Solutions:

  • Follows training development lifecycle using the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate);
  • Creates learning objectives, curriculum, materials, pre-post tests (as applicable), including paper manuals and online media; and
  • Partners with Employee Relations team as needed on OD solutions.

Measurement & Evaluation:

  • Evaluates and measures training and OD interventions;
  • Develops and implements measurement strategies for trainings;
  • Analyzes evaluation metrics and creates and shares outcome data (ROI, testimonials, suggestions for changes); and
  • Consults with leaders to evaluate post-OD behavior change and impact.

Performs other related duties as assigned:

  • Assists the Director of Organizational Development & Learning on projects as required;
  • Serves on Committees for the University; and
  • May deliver coaching as part of Workplace Coaching Program.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Significant demonstrated experience delivering training and facilitation (typically five or more years);
  • Significant demonstrated experience designing workshops for adult learners, including needs assessments, learning objectives, and training measurement and evaluation (typically 5 or more years);
  • Some experience designing, implementing and evaluating organizational development solutions;
  • Knowledge of organization development practices and adult learning theories;
  • Knowledge of current diversity, equity, and inclusion theories, practices, and pedagogies;
  • Proficient in the use of related technology and software to deliver training (instructor-led and online);
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills;
  • Effective organizational skills and attention to detail; and
  • Ability to facilitate delivery of material to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with workplace diversity, inclusion and equity topics and training approaches;
  • Certification/experience in StrengthsFinder, Crucial Conversations, EQ-i 2.0 or MBTI;
  • Coaching experience;
  • Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) or other related training certification; and
  • Coaching certification.
