What You Will Be Doing

WilmerHale, one of the world's leading law firms, is seeking to hire an Alumni Relations Manager.

As a member of the Clients Development team, the Alumni Relations Manager will develop, launch, lead, monitor and report on programs, events and initiatives designed to promote a consistent and meaningful dialogue with and among the firm's alumni community. The Manager will work in close collaboration with the Chief Client Development Officer and the Director of Public Relations and Communications as well as seamlessly with colleagues throughout the Client Development Department. The position will work across various firm internal departments such as Legal Personnel, Practice Management, Human Resources, IS, and Finance.

The ideal candidate will bring exceptional organizational, writing, and communication and presentation skills and a blend of project leadership, business analysis, executive communication, and process management. This is an exciting opportunity to be directly involved in business development planning.

The position will assist with proactively supporting client service by actively participating in the firm's Service Excellence initiative. Ensures that staff members are providing quality service to internal members/departments of the firm as well as external clients and vendors by displaying professionalism via electronic and print correspondence, over the telephone and in-person and by encouraging an atmosphere that rewards a "can do" attitude.

About this Role

  • Work closely with Business Development team to develop a strategy and cadence around various alumni-facing activities to generate awareness, create networking opportunities, grow the firm's alumni footprint, and identify and assist in developing business development opportunities.
  • Maintain list of key alumni to target for high-touch outreach and on-going connections with key partners. Work with partners to "cover" various groups of alumni so that they are engaging with their groups on a regular consistent basis.
  • Support all aspects of an alumni business development plan and manage alumni initiatives throughout the firm: job placement program, job board, newsletter, CLE presentations, social media postings, alumni data management, and relevant alumni events.
  • Produce high-quality content that engages clients and builds alumni brand recognition internally and externally; work closely with the VisCom team to oversee the design, content development, and production of all related materials including alumni newsletter, messaging from the MP, alumni spotlights, WH Alumni Network, internal communications, and team presentations.
  • Serve as lead resource for the WH Alumni Network portal including posting of content, activating alumni users, compiling metrics and analytics.
  • Manage the coordination of alumni and firm events relating to the firm's alumni program and related business development opportunities.
  • Develop a plan and coordinate monthly, quarterly and yearly events, office activities, and external community gatherings that align with the alumni program.
  • Assist in developing and executing signature programs of the firm's alumni program.
  • Provide data analytics on alumni engagement and the performance of alumni engagement initiatives.
  • Create and maintain tracking and reporting tools as necessary (e.g., spreadsheets, databases, and reports).
  • Engage with various stakeholders to oversee special firm projects, events, and activities.
  • Serve as an ambassador of the WilmerHale alumni program to our internal and external constituents.

  • Flexibility and ability to travel to other firm locations when necessary.
Required Experience

Education

  • BA/BS required

Experience

  • 7 - 10 years in communications or alumni relations required
  • Legal industry experience strongly preferred
