Job Description

Our regional headquarters are located in beautiful Frederick Maryland where the region is currently comprised of 9 retail stores, 2 warehouse locations and has roughly 300 employees. We hope to expand our retail footprint and believe we have capacity for upwards of 15-20 stores within our territory.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a smaller region, but have the support and infrastructure of one of the largest Goodwill's in the network, Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA). After the merger in 2020, Goodwill of Monocacy Valley has been able to grow retail revenue and stabilize operations with the support of GCNA's innovative best practices.

Position Description:

Works with Vice President of Retail Operations to lead and achieve results for multiple Retail projects as well as assigned projects from the Project Management office as well as oversees all E-Commerce operations, including E-Commerce projects, collections, security, safety, processing sales, Team Member management, financial performance, department budget, strategy, and margin goals for Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) and its affiliated entities. Mentors and trains E-Commerce Assistant Managers. Assists with providing strategic vision, leadership and general management skills for both short and long-term success reporting on performance and results of special projects for Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) and its affiliated entities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maximizes revenue and margin from donated goods through online sales and oversees the proper procedures for handling and sales of E-Commerce merchandise.
  • Manages and is responsible for department & project budgets including coordinating purchases and completing variance reporting.
  • Ensures that projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.
  • Works on various projects, managing the process from beginning to end including the documentation of project scope, project specifications, technical design requirements, priorities, deadlines, and deliverable schedules, driving additional revenue.
  • Facilitates discussions, consensus, among various project stakeholders, such as executive sponsors and Team Members from all departments.
  • Plans, schedules, and consistently execute high quality training for the rollout of special projects.
  • Finds ways to eliminate wastefulness in production process and trains Team Members on best practices.
  • Provides follow-up efforts and training within the stores for key initiatives.
  • Coordinates cross-functional team leaders; monitors and reports on project status.
  • Performs risk management to minimize and/or mitigate project risks.
  • Measures project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Oversees the creation and maintenance of comprehensive project documentation.
  • Provides information and counsel concerning retail operations to the VP of Retail that supports strategic development and improvements in growth and effectiveness of GCNA retail services.
  • Implements and maintains procedures to maximize efficiencies in production, sales, customer service, and receipt of donations with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Builds and supervise a high-performing team to maximize project work, and donated goods being sent to E-Commerce.
  • Responsible for performance management (coaching, discipline, performance improvement plans, and annual reviews), staffing, compensation, and development of Team Members.
  • Plays critical role in driving company culture change efforts and change management processes.

  • Represents retail team on committees as assigned.
  • Attends scheduled meetings, workshops, and seminars as required for career development.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):

  • Equivalent work experience preferred.
  • 5+ years' retail leadership or project management experience desired.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience of demonstrated E-Commerce management with Goodwill or related retail experience.
  • Experience in negotiation and multiple vendor management, including developing Request for Quote (RFQ).
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in partnership with others.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team leadership abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid drivers' license and clean MVR.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable for position.
  • Ability to speak and read English proficiently
