Position: Configuration Management Specialist

Position Summary:

The Service Asset Configuration Management (SACM) Section provides operational support to maximize the organization's capabilities and readiness. The objective of the SACM Section is to provide IT Asset and Configuration Management to the organization for both Continental US (CONUS) and Outside Continental US (OCONUS) locations. The section ensures hardware, software, virtual, and other service assets/configuration items are properly managed throughout their lifecycle, including their relationships and dependencies to other related configuration items and associated change requests. Operational changes to the environment are administratively updated in a Configuration Management Database (CMDB).

Clearance Eligibility: Active DoD - Secret

Salary: The salary offered will depend on education, certifications, length and relevance of work history, and professional experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews, reconciles, and conducts comprehensive data analysis of large volumes of data to assess findings/discrepancies and develop data mitigation strategies.
  • Properly manages and tracks all Customer service assets/configuration items.
  • Provides status and lifecycle reports, supports verification, and audits activities.
  • Performs physical configuration audits with the collaboration of government personnel for major sites in support of establishing and maintaining the configuration baseline for US Marine Corps (USMC) sites.
  • Performs impact analysis of proposed changes based on system dependencies.
  • Performs lifecycle/product bulletin research of hardware and software products to support proper sustainment and refresh/replacement planning for systems near or at end-of-life.
  • Uses their knowledge of the above-named systems and concepts to provide IT Asset Management/Configuration Management support under Customer SACM standard operating procedures.
  • Create and manage requests to update Remedy system objects.

  • Proficiency in effectively working with both internal and external organizations to resolve configuration-related discrepancies.

Education and Certification Requirements:

  • IAT II (CCNA Security, CYSA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+CE, CND, SSCP)
  • Possess IT Infrastructure Library Foundations certification (ITILv3)

Background and Experience:

  • 2-3 years of providing IT Asset/Configuration Management Support
  • Familiarization with IT Service Management (ITSM) concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Mid-Level understanding of Microsoft Excel
  • Mid-Level understanding of Microsoft Access

Required Technical Skills:

  • Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) Atrium Configuration Management Database
  • (CMDB) training 8.0 or greater
  • Mid-level knowledge of the BMC Remedy ITSM suite and associated consoles (e.g., Software Asset Management, Technical Refresh, Change Management, Incident Management, Release Management, Service Request)
  • 4-6 years of providing IT Asset/Configuration Management Support
  • Mid-level knowledge of both BMC Internal Reporting Tool (BIRT), BMC Analytics and
  • SMART reporting (preferred)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • General office environment. Work is generally sedentary but may require movement about the office for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
  • Contractor site with 0-10% travel possible
  • Possible off-hours work to support releases and outages
  • Occasional movement of small articles up to 10lbs
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Continually operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
  • Occasionally required to move self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
  • Continually required to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
  • Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
