Job Summary

Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is seeking a Student Services Technician to work in a dynamic team atmosphere. This position will support the Admissions and Records office with the administrative functions of EMCC admissions, registration, and student record keeping for the student population, which may also include supporting processes related to special populations (i.e. Special Admissions, AAEC and/or student athletics). This position will also provide general support of the day-to-day functions of the Admissions, Records, and Registration office at EMCC and serve as an informational resource.

Essential Functions
  • 50% - Assist new and continuing students with all aspects of the college admissions, records, and registration functions. Supports Admissions and Records Office with a strong focus on customer service, quick response times, and warm referrals to other related student service areas. Provides student, faculty, and staff support; enrollment verifications, transcript requests for employers, students, lenders, and/or the National Student Clearinghouse. Updates student records as required, following FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act) while adhering to any other applicable laws, policies, rules, or regulations. Responds to student communication and processes documents/requests.
  • 25% - Performs general office functions such as; answering phones, making outgoing telephone calls and responding to electronic communication mediums, faxing, preparing correspondence, providing front-line or multi-phone service, preparing records for permanent storage and/or disposal and gathering data for reports.
  • 15% - Assists with Special Admissions populations including working with high school partners.
  • 10% - Assists with training A&R part time employees and Federal Work Study (FWS) student employees. Submits HDT's for technology, facilities maintenance requests, etc. Reserves rooms for A&R meetings, training, etc. Tracks the number of students served and other processing numbers and reports information to leads. Performs other assigned duties that are commensurate to the grade level of the position.


Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and one (1) year of clerical, administrative office support or related experience.

Desired Qualifications
  • One year experience providing customer service involving a high volume of public contact
  • Six months or more of experience in Student Services related to higher education
  • Six months or more of experience using Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace
  • Six months or more of experience using online Student Information Systems (SIS)
  • Six months or more of experience working in higher education Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards (based on assignment)
  • Six months or more providing process training for staff.


Special Working Conditions

May be required to work at multiple sites or locations.

Providing coverage at off-site locations and the ability to pass a fingerprint clearance process may be required (i.e. EMCC WestMEC).

Position may be eligible for limited remote work, as defined by college requirements.

May be required to lift or carry up to 25lbs with or without a reasonable accommodation.

May be required to view a computer monitor for an extended period of time

Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving.
