Summary

This leadership role on the Planning Experience team will oversee managers who are focused on delivering advocacy and awareness programs and individualized support directly to advisors for the adoption of the new planning experience with existing advisors and new recruits who join Northwestern Mutual. This leader will thoughtfully strategize cross-functionally and with other leaders to build a rollout plan or build/implement an advocacy and individualized support model that aligns with broader adoption targets and long term KPIs. This leader will spend time with their team engaging, coaching, aligning work, as well as streamlining assignment of individuals to the field in conjunction with leadership.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive the achievement of the corporate planning metric and KPIs for the planning experience by leveraging a team who engage directly with advisors and office staff.

  • Manage a team of Financial Planning and Consultation Consultants and Region Lead's both in person as well as remote capacity.

  • Drive achievement for corporate planning metric and KPIs for the adoption of PX.

  • Partner with the Performance Team (Principals), the Regional Sales Directors (RSDs) and Technology Productivity Consultants (TPCs) to maximize resources as it relates to adoption and servicing targets and correlated sales goals; ensure organized interdependent efforts within network offices and regions.

  • Compliance escalation point for each of the network offices, Consultants, leads and the regions they support.

  • Monitor and ensure planning quality of phone calls, one on ones, emails and any outgoing communication from the Financial Planning and Consultation teams.

  • Work with Region leads to develop localized targets for both immediate and future needs.

  • Communicate regularly with field leadership and work on continuous engagement and advocacy for the new planning experience.

  • Educate and provide sales support consultation to the field on the integration of planning and products. Considered a deep subject matter expert on all planning modules and a variety of products. Lead high impact projects.

  • Collaborate as a subject matter expert in planning, products and/or markets on divisional and departmental projects to support the strategic mission and goals within Financial Planning and Consultation, product lines and NM at large.

  • Analyze data about the team's performance and look for ways to gain efficiency and enhance impact and outcomes.

  • Communicate regularly with home office and field leadership for continuous engagement and advocacy of the new planning experience.

  • Be a constant advocate for the adoption of planning best practices and use substantiated data to promote the impact PX can have in each network office.

  • Deliver training content to existing advisors and new recruits training classes as needed.

Qualifications

  • Series 7 required or ability to obtain within 6 months.

  • Minimum of 4 years in a people management role or related project experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years Client-facing financial planning experience required or related experience.

  • Able to travel up to 20% of the time.

  • Energetic, focused leader who can motivate and inspire a team to deliver.

  • Deeply passionate about the impact financial planning can have with clients.

  • Agile thinker who can manage through ambiguity and adjust in real time.

  • Robust mastery of the new NM planning experience software.

  • Collaborative and works well with others to get things accomplished Able to gain support and commitment from others, while mobilizing them to take action.

  • Excellent knowledge and application of consultation skills relative to planning and products.

  • Ability to consult with the field on complex topics and scenarios and propose effective, needs-based solutions.

  • Able to identify and address the problems, opportunities, wants and needs of the field and their clients in a suitable manner.

  • Empathetic - can put yourself in the shoes of our field roles (Staff, Advisor, Managing Directors, Directors, etc.) and see their perspective.

  • Passionate about Northwestern Mutual Financial Planning process, products and services.

  • CFP (or related financial planning designation) CLU, ChFC, CFA, CASL, MSFS. preferred.

This position has been classified as a Registered Representative under NMIS guidelines and requires fingerprinting.

Pay Range - Start:

$100,030.00

Pay Range - End:

$185,770.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
