Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Level Hydrogeologist, Geologist or Scientist for our contaminated site assessment & remediation practice in our Columbia, MD office. The position will help grow our practice while contributing to challenging environmental projects including the financial and technical, investigation, evaluation, permitting, and construction stages, while further developing the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Task and project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability;
  • Management and mentoring of junior staff and managing subcontractors;
  • Work plan development, data evaluation, and report writing;
  • Data management, analysis and presentation, including preparing maps, boring logs, cross sections, figures and three dimensional models;
  • Prepare technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;
  • Review and manage written document production;
  • Prepare for and participate in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties;
  • Providing litigation support services, including related to site characterization, hazardous waste and material management;
  • Conduct fieldwork including multi-media environmental sampling, high resolution site characterization oversight, drilling oversight, aquifer testing, borehole geophysics, and contractor oversight;
  • Direct multi-disciplinary project teams;
  • Task and project-level responsibility for scoping, performing, managing and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments;
  • Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, play a key role in supporting business development, staff development, and mentoring; and
  • Help broaden our reputation via publishing and visibility at prominent industry conferences.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, earth science (geology or hydrology), or related science. (required)
  • Advanced degree in related science. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e. P.G., QEP, BCES, CHMM) (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of direct environmental consulting experience in site assessment and remediation projects; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients. (preferred)
  • Proven leadership skills. (preferred)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Regional visibility through involvement in professional associations or trade organizations. (preferred)
  • Advanced experience with visualization software such as Leapfrog, EVS, and surfer. (preferred)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
