Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.

  1. Directly supervises the daily work of the Pharmacy applications analysts, including but not limited to: Candidate selection, completing performance reviews, corrective action. Designates on-call responsibilities, assigns tasks, and develops reports.
  2. Initiates and assigns projects consistent with the overall strategy for program maintenance and development.
  3. Functions as the Pharmacy technology liaison for the Department.
    1. Coordinates efforts with operational managers to ensure the proper utilization of the technology in accordance to the department budget and operations.
    2. Responsible for the creation and management of various standard, ad hoc, and periodic system related reports to optimize efficiency and display metrics.
    3. Maintains training materials and contact information with vendors Serves as the primary contact point with the vendor for daily operations. Coordinates proper system functionality and changes with IS&T group.
    4. Serves as the project leader for the installation and/or changes in new or existing technology equipment.
    5. Serves as a liaison with other departments, particularly hospital IS&T, in responding to questions, inquiries, and problems.
    6. Serves as the technical resource to the Pharmacy applications analysts as related to system functionality and troubleshooting of hardware and software problems.
    7. Represents the department at various meetings, task force groups and quality councils as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Systems, Health Care Administration, Business Administration or a related discipline is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the degree.

  • Three years of progressively responsible experience with pharmacy equipment and technology

  • Supervisory experience and an ability to work with others on complex issues are strongly preferred.
