This paid internship is anticipated to start in May/June 2024 and extend through the end of the summer, with the potential for further extension into additional semesters.


Responsibilities

  • Fine-tuning Conversational Models for various customer-related use cases
  • Evaluate performance metrics like coherence, engagement, and satisfaction for refinement
  • Investigate biases in conversational AI, particularly in customer interactions
  • Implement rigorous procedures to identify and mitigate hallucination errors
  • Collaborate with higher-level developers to understand design principles, address software issues, and demonstrate strong programming and software development skills while being comfortable working in an interdisciplinary, team-oriented environment

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program
  • Preference will be given to candidates enrolled in a graduate program
  • Demonstrate expertise in Python programming to develop efficient and scalable solutions for data integration and automation
  • Understanding various software development lifecycles and the ability to develop efficient and high-quality software
  • Knowledge of software configuration management and change management practices
  • Must be a self-starter and adaptable to work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discern work priorities
  • Technical fluency in SQL, Python, JavaScript, and HTML
  • Comfort working across multiple business teams, including both technical and non-technical partners

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
