POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Alutiiq Career Ventures, (ACV) a subsidiary of Alutiiq, LLC is looking foran experienced and self-motivated Library Technician to join our team.The Library Technician provides a broad array of support services for the operation of the Glenn Research Center Library, Records Management, History Office, and Learning Center. These products and services include interlibrary loan, collection maintenance, circulation support, and customer service. The incumbent will perform all duties with direct supervision but in concurrence with the customer and the TIALS 2 Media Services Manager and Library/Records/History Supervisor.

  • Prepares/maintains common use computer stations for patrons.
  • Performs basic circulation tasks including check in/discharging materials, emptying book drop, investigating patron accounts, assisting in finding materials in collection (both print and electronic), shelving materials, and answering phone.
  • Provides patrons with basic instruction on how to find materials in the physical collection, as well as on websites/databases.
  • Provides customer service via the Library and Learning Center's circulation desk during business hours.
  • Assists librarian staff with basic collection development projects including but not limited to shelf reading, weeding, inventory, and digitization.
  • Builds/updates LibGuides based on content curated by librarian staff.
  • In conjunction with interlibrary loan staff, manages the lending of library materials to other libraries and processes interlibrary loan requests and materials in ILLiad.
  • Generates ideas for improving user experience.
  • Troubleshoots interlibrary loan software and IT equipment, including printers, photocopiers, scanners, and microfiche reader.
  • Assists with improving lending policies, procedures, and workflows of interlibrary loan.
  • Adheres to Agency Records Management policies and archives in accordance with current policy, including proper electronic archiving procedures.
  • Understands and adheres to all applicable NASA and GRC policies and guidelines.
  • Complies with all Alutiiq Policies, Procedures, and Directives in the performance of duties under the TIALS 2 Contract.
  • Complies with all provisions of the TIALS 2 Safety Plan.
  • Complies with all provisions of the TIALS 2 Quality Plan.
  • Complies with all provisions of the TIALS 2 Organizational Conflict of Interest (OCI) Avoidance Plan.
  • Maintains regular and acceptable attendance level as determined by the company.
  • Completes all assigned training.
  • May be required to work off-hours to meet contract requirements.
  • May be required to support ATS new business activities.

Pay rate:$19.83 to $25.25 Hourly

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's or Associated degree in related field; two years of experience may be substituted for each year of formal education
  • Comprehensive software knowledge, including but not limited to Windows PC, Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Experience using interlibrary loan software Illiad, SirsiDynix, Symphony, Springshare LibGuides is preferred
  • Maintains professional demeanor with both internal and external partners and customers
  • Possesses excellent oral communication skills to work with team members from the Glenn Research Center, other NASA Centers, NASA Headquarters, and external stakeholders
  • Ability to review, research, and summarize data
  • Has basic knowledge of copyright compliance
  • Ability to analyze information, prioritize work, and follow-through to meet deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple, time sensitive tasks simultaneously with a focus on results and quality
  • Has clear and strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates proper use of grammar, excels in proofreading, and has a keen attention to detail
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is critical
