Specialty APP Fellowship (12 months) - Headache Neurology

Inova is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) interested in completing a 12 month fellowship in Headache Neurology. This outpatient-based fellowship training year will provide didactic and hands-on/in-clinic educational instruction as well as extensive exposure to/experience in conducting clinical research and supervising an in-clinic headache "rescue room"/infusion center.

An Advanced Practice Provider Fellow (APP Fellow) is a Board Certified Physician Assistant or Board Certified Acute, Family, or Primary Care Registered Nurse Practitioner responsible for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with an attending physician, with oversight and guidance by a primary APP preceptor. As a trainee, the APP Fellow will receive preceptor guidance and teaching delivered by a senior advanced practice provider or attending physician. The APP Fellow is expected to manage direct patient care as a dominant aspect of the role. He/she is responsible for coordination of patient care and participation in collaborative medical care with multidisciplinary teams. The APP Fellow is expected to participate in protected, non-clinical didactic education in the form of lectures, simulation, skills labs, case studies, presentations, and other components of the curriculum as determined by the coordinator and director.

Clinical Practice & Management of Care: Provides safe therapeutic care in holistic and systemic way to include the assessment and overall management of care for a specified patient population under the supervision of an MD. Exercises graduated independent judgement in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of medical processes and procedures in accordance with the Advanced Practice Provider licensure regulations of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and as delineated in the written

Teamwork: Communicates effectively and works collaboratively with others. Demonstrates respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines and uses an integrated approach to achieve desired patient outcomes.

Evidence-based/Best Practice: Utilizes evidenced-based standards, guidelines, and protocols for care delivery. Incorporates data and information to continuously improve care and practice.

Professional Development: Ensures improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development in life-long learning.
