Job Description
The LPN delivers, coordinates, evaluates and is accountable for the total nursing care for residents/patients in the assigned area (approximately 20 to 25 beds) in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations and Keswick's nursing care standards, in order to maintain or attain the highest practical level of functioning. The LPN functions are performed in collaboration with the Registered Nurse whose has ultimate accountability for the resident/patient.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires graduation from Licensed Practical Nurse program

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION AND REGISTRATION:

Active Licensed Practical Nurse licensure without disciplinary infractions by Maryland Board of Nursing.

Current AHA HCP BLS certification required.

IV insertion skills required.

WORK ORIENTATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

At least 1 year prior continual experience with the same long-term care facility is required. 2 or more years of service are preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a healthcare environment and involves frequent standing, bending, walking and sitting throughout the day. Requires heavy physical effort including the ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds. Adheres to established protocol for lifting objects and moving patients. Frequent need for reaching with the hands or arms, and use of hands to finger, handle or feel. Constant use of computer keyboard and monitor. Requires ability to talk, hear and smell. Requires close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

May experience stress during emergency situations or due to multiple demands from patients, families and staff. Some local travel may be requested. May be required to work weekends, holidays, evenings and/or nights, and during emergent situations such as extreme weather conditions or disasters.

Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, and conditions common to a health care clinical environment requiring the use of personal protective equipment and adherence to standard precautions policy.

Join us for a: F/T or P/T 3-11:30 pm & 11 pm - 7:30 am, & F/T 7 am - 3:30 pm shifts that include 1 weekend every 3 weeks.
