Main Duties & Responsibilities

This occupation requires knowledge of technical codes and specifications, welding processes, materials, NDE techniques, tools and machines. This position requires moderate physical exertion, including lifting, bending, and standing. This position reports to the Welding Supervisor.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Requires five (5) years minimum GTAW & GMAW experience as a Journeyman welder and fabricator. Formal training and certificate in ASME SECTION IX or equivalent.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Develops welding techniques and procedures utilizing knowledge of production and industry specifications.

* Establishes welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel in specification requirements, processes, and pre and post weld heating requirements.

* Evaluates new developments in the welding field for possible applications for current problems or production processes.

* Performs audits to ensure worker's compliance to established weld procedures, standards and code.

* Responsible for testing of welding personnel for certification and re-certification.

* Conducts training and instruction sessions as required.

* Responsible for preparation and handling of audits i.e. NadCAP.

* Generates and maintains all welding records, qualifications, machine calibration and maintenance schedules.

* Assures welding rod and bulk argon are always stocked and in good order.

* Perform all other duties as assigned or directed.

Qualifications

* Welding Engineer degree a plus.

* Five (5) years GTAW & GMAW experience as a Journeyman welder and fabricator.

* Extensive background and knowledge of ASME SECTION IX, MIL-STD-1595, AMS-STD-2219, MIL-STD-2219 and AWS D17.1 requirements.

* Non Destructive Testing Certifications and able to read and interpret Radiographic film.

* Formal training and certificate in ASME SECTION IX or equivalent.

* Must be able to read and interpret drawings, blueprints and welding specifications.

* Able to write Procedure Qualification Reports, Weld Procedure Specifications and Welder Qualification Records.

* Knowledge of organizational planning, production methods and materials.

* Knowledge of NDE testing and techniques.

* Computer skills utilizing Excel and Word programs.

The pay range for this position is $27.64 - $51.44/hour.
