Valiant is seeking an individual to provide electrical engineering support as a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Assembly Engineer for a USG customer in the Northern Virginia area. The support activities below are representative of the tasks the individual shall perform:

Provide PCB experience to populate and test printed circuit boards by hand and with machine enabled tools. The support includes utilizing technologies including surface mount (including fine pitch) components, through-hole components, wiring harnesses, conformal coating, numerous RF and data connector types, soldering irons, solder paste application, solder stencils, pick and place machinery, X-ray inspection and rework machines.

  • Serve as a focal point for manual and machine-enabled PCB assembly and oversee operation and maintenance of related PCB assembly equipment and processes.
  • Respond to engineering project requests by interpreting schematics, selecting appropriate parts from Sponsor stock, assembling the PCBs per design documentation, and performing quality inspection of each board to comply with the Sponsor and IPC standards.
  • Perform solder and assembly quality inspections of Sponsor-assembled PCBs to ensure compliance with IPC and Sponsor standards.
  • Perform X-ray inspection on all reflowed and reworked boards.
  • Coordinate with the Sponsor's engineers during design phase to evaluate assembly methods and materials.
  • Provide PCB design support and recommendations to Sponsor as-needed.
  • Serve as the focal point for the inventory, organization, and maintenance of the machine-enabled assembly section of the electrical component stock room.
  • Establish and document assembly procedures.
  • Train Sponsor engineers in assembly procedures and Sponsor's assembly equipment.
  • Identify, suggest, and advise on ancillary processes and equipment required for reliability and efficiency.
  • Identify, recommend, and evaluate new assembly equipment, for potential Sponsor purchase, to support changing industry practices and technologies.
  • Integrate assembly equipment purchased by Sponsor.
  • Identify impacts of new technologies to domestic and overseas processes, operations, and maintenance.
  • Manage the receipt and disposal of HAZMAT and HAZWASTE according to Sponsor requirements.
  • Maintain PCB assembly equipment, software, and supplies.
  • Interface with external Vendors for technical support or purchasing.
  • Keep skills and knowledge up to date and maintain IPC certifications.
  • Assist the PCB Fabrication Expert with assigned duties.
  • Perform ad-hoc requirements that may be associated with Sponsor/Mission Partners equipment/supplies/products in order to report and maintain operational readiness status.

  • A TS/SCI with Polygraph is required.
  • CONUS and OCONUS TDY travel may be required.
