Training: June 20-21
Work Schedule Monday 8:00 a.m. through Friday 6:00 p.m.
Exception: Off July 4 & 5 and August 9
Move out of the dorm Thursday, August 8 by 12 pm.

Resident assistants should expect to be on call and ready to work from Monday mornings through Friday afternoons June 24 - August 8, 2024. Taking a college course during this time is highly discouraged.

A private room is provided; all meals provided. Summer camp RAs are required to live on campus.

Due to the nature of the position, it is not recommended that a summer camp RA hold another outside job.
Job Description
Resident Assistants are an integral part of the Camp Norse team. We are seeking energetic, fun, and engaging individuals to inspire our tweens and teens to become the best version of themselves.

Provide live-in supervision and a safe environment for motivated high school and middle school students in a university residence hall setting. Guide students through campus life by assisting students with academics, leadership abilities, team building, peer relationships, recreational activities, and act as a chaperone for evening activities. Build connections, both individually and collectively with the campers by planning and implementing intentional in-person social interactions and educational programming, including but not limited to group activities, trips to Campus Rec, discussions or workshops, primarily in the evenings.

RAs also complete nightly check-ins, monitor curfew, and help students adapt to dorm life. RAs should be highly accessible in the residence hall and around campus, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.

We need mature, dependable, energetic young adults who enjoy working with teens. Ideal opportunity for future educators, but all majors encouraged.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsible for the safety of students and other staff members. Observe surroundings, identify problems or students in distress and respond according to protocol.

Enforcing the rules of the Camp Norse Code of Conduct. Hold students accountable for their behaviors and comfortable enforcing policy.

Monitoring, leading, and encouraging a team of students (usually in groups of 8 - 10) in daily and weekly activities; supervising and developing all the student participants (usually 20 - 25). Work as part of a team to create a successful, safe, and fun learning environment for students.

Assisting professional staff members. Communicating with professional staff members after hours as needed.

Designing and implementing evening programs for students; working as a positive team member with the other resident staff members; driving in an emergency; completing all paperwork by deadlines.

Effectively communicate, give directions, and lead students in the event of an emergency.

Prepare reports and correspondences, including but not limited to incident reports, emails to camp staff.

Demonstrate a commitment to multiculturalism by striving to create an understanding and inclusive community where individuals have a sense of belonging.

Meet on-call responsibilities by serving in an on-call duty rotation as designated. Duty hours are overnight.
Qualifications
Have graduated from high school in 2022 or earlier and have completed 60 college credits by the end of the spring semester 2024.

2.5 minimum GPA.

Candidates must possess a driver's license in case of emergency driving. RAs must be in good academic, financial, and disciplinary standing with the University and the Department. This includes upholding all policies and procedures as defined by Northern Kentucky University's , and any other applicable University policies and procedures.

You must be available to attend all training prior to camp's start. You must be available for the entire time period of camp (June 20-August 8) It is preferred, but not required that candidates have lived in on - campus for at least one semester prior to start of employment.

Any candidate who is offered this position will be required to go through a pre-employment criminal background check as mandated by state law.
