Job Description

The Molding Associate I is responsible for the manufacturing of molded composite seals (metal and rubber) parts while following the corporate priorities of Safety, Quality, and Productivity. The associate completes all established set-up, pre-builds and Standard Operating Procedures which pertain to the parts, machine, tooling, gauging, and other equipment as necessary. CSS Division is located in Otay Mesa.

  • Produce quality sealing parts using metal and rubber components to meet customer demand
  • Follow protocols to reduce waste and scrap.
  • Read and interpret route sheets and blueprints to ensure process flow and quality parts.
  • Using a day-by-hour tracking system, actively participate with the team to ensure daily goals are met.
  • Enter team data tracking using Infinity QS (SPC Standard Edition) or similar database.
  • Read specifications and inspect finished products for conformance to specifications.
  • Handle, apply, store, and dispose adhesives sealants, resins and solvents of composite materials.
  • Trim off excess material/rubber "flash" using hand tools.
  • Perform a variety of tasks which require knowledge of fabrication techniques, materials, tools and equipment.
  • Create and promote a safe work environment and enforce the safety policy for themselves as well as for those around them.
  • Comply with Parker's Quality policy and processes to ensure compliance to ISO, AS and MS certifications.
  • Perform a variety of operations to directly support the CSS manufacturing operations and the Parker WIN Strategy.
  • Through practices of lean systems and continuous improvement, contribute to a high-performance team to ensure total customer satisfaction, quality products and services, on-time delivery, and a safe work environment while reinforcing Parker's quality and safety polices.

Education:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interests, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to read and understand bar graphs for department metrics.
  • Ability to work and train from verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to repetitiously load and unload parts from a molding press machine.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time at a workstation while sitting.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers for detailed work over extended periods of time.

Salary Range: $17.00 - $21.50 per hour.
