Reporting to the Senior Director, Philanthropy, the Director, Special Events is responsible for designing, managing and conducting a comprehensive special events program for the Providence Mission Hospital Foundation. Events include signature, recognition, cultivation, salon, dedication, campaign and third-party events. The Director will be responsible for:

  • Comprehensive strategy and design of all signature fundraising events including long-term and annual goals and objectives in conjunction with foundation leadership, boards, and event committees.
  • Staff leadership, organization and implementation of annual signature fundraising events.
  • Working with foundation executive directors and fundraising teams, develop, present and steward proposals to business and community sources for sponsorship and support of fundraising events.
  • Oversee coordination of communication materials (event promotion, printed materials, and advertising) in conjunction with PHS marketing and communication teams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Organizes and implements special events in cooperation with major gift officers, shared services caregivers and volunteers.
  • Cultivates and secures corporate and individual sponsors for special events.
  • Recruits and supervises Providence Mission Hospital Foundation special event volunteers.
  • Develops ways to improve special event revenues, stewardship and cultivation strategies and generate event excitement.
  • Researches ideas for new events and presents to the Senior Director of Philanthropy and Chief Philanthropy Officer.
  • Maintains productivity standards set by organization guidelines.
  • Maintains an accurate donor database in cooperation with the Providence Mission Hospital Foundation and shared services caregivers.
  • Documents special event activities and prepares revenue and expense reports as requested.
  • Manages and implements a special events calendar and associated event timelines.
  • Develops event scenarios and event briefings for leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Participates in orientation, education and development of team members as directed by supervisor.
  • Participates in appropriate continuing education as may be requested and/or required by immediate supervisor.
  • Accepts personal responsibility for other educational activities to enhance job-related skills and abilities.
  • Participates in the Performance Improvement Program.
  • Keeps special event expenditures within the Foundation's annual budget.
  • Follows Core Value for being financially prudent.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • 8 years of demonstrated fundraising success in organizational fundraising.
  • 5 years of leadership experience in organizational fundraising
  • Demonstrates good communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks within a busy environment.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with donor management systems.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of community resources, corporations and philanthropic organizations
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of computer applications, i.e. Microsoft Office and e-mail.

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
