Overview

The Senior Payroll Tax Analyst will possess a strong background in payroll processing and taxation, with a focus on ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations. The Analyst will play a crucial role in accurately managing payroll tax processes with our vendor and resolving any tax-related issues. This position requires a high level of precision, analytical skills, and the ability to stay current on tax legislation changes.

This position must be based from one of Breakthru Beverage's 17 states of operation to act in a hybrid capacity (2 days in the office, 3 days from home).

Responsibilities
    Payroll Tax Compliance:
    • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll taxes in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations with our tax vendor ADP.
    • Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Tax Filings:
    • Initiate all required payroll tax files from Workday payroll system to ADP tax vendor, including quarterly and annual returns to include W-2s.
    • File Multi-Worksite quarterly reporting.
    • Reconcile and verify tax filings to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
    • Partner with ADP Tax vendor account representative to coordinate any amendments when necessary and responses to notices.
    • Setup of any new jurisdictions due to expansion of business.
    • Updating of unemployment rates annually.
  • Research and Analysis:
    • Conduct research on complex tax issues and provide recommendations for resolution.
    • Analyze payroll tax data to identify trends, anomalies, and potential areas for improvement.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with internal teams, including HR and Accounting, to ensure accurate reporting and resolve payroll tax-related issues.
    • Communicate effectively with external agencies, tax authorities, and vendors.
    • Work with associates on any tax adjustments. Entry of all tax adjustments in payroll system.
  • Audits:
    • Assist in preparing for and participating in payroll tax audits.
    • Respond to audit inquiries and provide necessary documentation.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in payroll tax procedures.
    • Implement best practices to enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of payroll tax processes.
  • Other duties, as assigned by the jobholder's supervisor, may also be required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field and/or equivalent training and work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in payroll tax administration
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
  • Advanced PC skills using MS Office and other various computer programs including excel (VLOOKUPs, formulas, pivot tables, graphing).
  • Experience with ADP Smart Compliance
  • Must be a results-oriented professional with verbal/written communication skills using diplomacy and discretion as well as customer service skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and/or within a team, pay attention to detail and meet deadlines
  • Analytic and Reporting skills
  • Utilize sound judgement and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume, team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Canadian Payroll Tax
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or other relevant certifications
  • Workday system experience preferred
  • Able to handle large chunks of data from multiple sources
