Position Summary
The Department of Pathology at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine is seeking a full-time academic Surgical Pathologist/Cytopathologist with a focus on Gastrointestinal Pathology to join our exceptional faculty. This is an open-rank faculty position. Rank and tenure will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, qualifications, and funding.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • This position involves providing expertise in areas of oncologic and non-oncologic surgical pathology and cytopathology, supporting the mission of the Department as well as other clinical departments such as Medicine, Surgical Oncology and The University of Illinois Cancer Center. Opportunities exist to participate and collaborate on other sub-specialty diagnostic services, such as molecular pathology, digital pathology, and informatics. Academic appointments necessitate participation in medical education and institutional, regional, and national conferences. A high commitment to excellence in clinical service with outstanding communication skills is essential. Research opportunities include collaboration with the Departments of Surgical Oncology, and the Department of Medicine in addition to other departments.


  • Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications

    Candidates for this position must have an MD or DO degree, qualify for a license to practice medicine in Illinois, and possess board certification in Anatomic Pathology and be board certified or board eligible in Cytopathology. Fellowship training in general surgical pathology is desired.
