Billing Specialist – Intermediate
Location:  HQ - Fairfax, VA
Hybrid Remote – 3 days onsite per week

The person in this role will be responsible for billing duties including clerical, organizational, and administrative services that ensure timely, efficient, and accurate departmental billing processes. This person will be responsible and expected to handle more complicated billing issues.
 
  • Recent experience with government contracting, including T&M, FFP, and cost-plus, and working in WAWF, IPP, Delphi, and/or other government portals, plus a clear understanding of FAR, DFAR, and CAS is required.
  • Work closely with other departments to address/resolve all outstanding collections and special projects as assigned.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Gather, prepare, and organize data from multiple sources to be utilized during the billing processes.
  • Monitor and review automated billing imports for accuracy.
  • Accurately prepare and distribute invoices to customers (data entry)
  • Review collections and submittal delays of payments from customers.
  • Follow up with Subcontractors and Consultants when required.
  • Investigate and resolve customer inquiries through the accounting system in a timely fashion.
  • Review, reconcile, and analyze time sheet funding and contractual agreement for billing.
  • Electronic document filing
  • Communicate to the customer to move the invoices along
  • Special projects assigned by the manager.
  • Mentor Jr. Billing Specialists 

Job Qualifications:
  • Minimum of an associate degree in accounting or finance
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred.
  • US Citizenship required; secret clearance preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience preferred. (2-4 years of experience is ideal)
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce at a high level of accuracy and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to efficiently learn and utilize new software applications.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook
  • Availability to work extra hours when the need arises.
  • Must possess integrity and be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
  • Be able to handle miscellaneous projects as business needs require.
  • The successful candidate will be a self-motivated and dynamic team player who can meet the demands of a growing business environment.
  • Unanet Knowledge is preferred.

Required Knowledge/Experience:
  • Excellent problem-solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Analytical skills, including research, ability to interpret data, and ability to analyze information.
  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with various levels of management.
