Job Overview

The Assistant Fire Shop Supervisor assists in planning, organizing, and directing the maintenance and repair of Fire Alarm Systems for all assigned facilities. The Assistant Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day building operations including responding to work orders, performing repairs and maintenance of building systems and overseeing the staff performing the service work. The Assistant Supervisor will coordinate the planning and scheduling of department personnel and contractors, ensure department performance standards are maintained, and coordinate all efforts to ensure contract policies are followed.


Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

  • Work directly with Building Management to accomplish all services under the statement of work.
  • Coordinate and validate fire alarm and sprinkler testing and inspection.
  • Review all site work to verify compliance in accordance with applicable plans, procedures and all governing codes.
  • Provide leadership, training, motivation, performance evaluation, coaching, recognition and accountability for maintenance department employees.
  • Assist Facility Supervisor with establishing department priorities that support contract objectives for safety, customer satisfaction, productivity, etc.
  • Coordinate with personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies, and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.
  • Interpret, apply and explain complex codes, regulations and procedures.
  • Prepare and present weekly / monthly Technical Progress Reports as needed.
  • Generate, track and schedule outages related to fire alarm systems.
  • Schedule on call and preventive maintenance personnel.
  • Respond to emergency site maintenance as required.
  • Confer with and advise other management personnel regarding maintenance projects and priorities.
  • Assist in developing cost estimates, budget, correspondence and status reports.
  • Operate customer and company motor vehicles in a safe manner.
  • Support other department staff as needed or directed.
  • Adhere to the established safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Work is primarily performed indoors but may include outdoor work. Must be able to work at varying heights (i.e. ladder, roof tops, underground, etc.) in a variety of conditions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

  • High School graduate or equivalent GED.
  • Demonstrate a minimum of (5) years experience in the fire alarm maintenance and repair field.
  • Demonstrate experience in leadership, supervisory or management role.
  • Possess or obtain NICET II certification in Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Working knowledge of addressable fire alarm systems.
  • Working knowledge of solid-state and conventional control circuitry.
  • Familiar with Federal, State and Local building codes and standards.
  • Medically and physically able to wear a respirator.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Mature judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.
  • Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
