The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) is a busy and productive national team engaged in driving awareness about AARP to multicultural audiences (African-American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, Asian-American/Pacific Islander, American Indian/Alaskan Native, LGBTQ+, People with Disabilities).

The Multicultural Audience Strategy Manager assists in implementing the Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion's (DEI) priorities of fulfilling our Social Mission for members and non-members, increasing relevant engagements to grow diverse membership, addressing age discrimination challenges faced by older individuals and working to ensure the organization is a model DEI organization.


Responsibilities

  • Supports the development of relevant DEI initiatives, projects and resources that engage diverse communities within the organization's program and services. Works to build awareness, familiarity and engagement of the organization and its resources with prospective members and communicates the AARP social mission externally for diverse and underrepresented communities; with a focus on people who identify as Hispanic/Latino.
  • Consults with the organization's business units to strengthen organization-wide engagement with diverse communities.
  • Collaborates on national partnerships to connect the organization's resources, advocacy, programming, and services to diverse communities as well as to establish internal partnerships with the national partners.
  • Executes against a wide range departmental and cross-audience strategic plans, to deliver against key aspects of tactical plans.
  • Engages with multiple stakeholders on project deliverables and demonstrates ability to lead on several concurrent projects at different stages of execution/approval.
  • Liaises with operations team to ensure timely and accurate departmental operations. Manages departmental procurement processes, budget tracking, and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of experience understanding the nuances of communicating with and working on behalf of the Hispanic/Latino community.
  • Experience working with social mission organizations, spokespersons, and experts focused on Hispanic/Latino audiences.
  • Experience marketing to multicultural audiences, including digital, social media, and emerging communication vehicles.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders for project deliverables and multitask on concurrent projects at different stages of planning and execution.
  • Strong writing skills to work on presentations and reporting documents.
  • Bilingual: Ability speak, read and write in Spanish.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
