Behavioral Health Therapist IV

Inova Kellar Center is seeking a Behavioral Health Therapist IV to join our team supporting our patients and family at our Kellar Center located in Fairfax, VA. This position is a full time position working weekdays with some evenings potentially required to meet patient needs.

Job Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Demonstrates advanced clinical expertise in the provision of a range of therapeutic services, psychoeducational programming and behavioral interventions to assist the client in achieving progress towards the goals and objectives of individualized treatment plans.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess and diagnose mental health and/or substance use disorders through a bio/psycho/social department specific and evidenced based assessment identifying patient and family goals/needs
  • Demonstrates clinical autonomy in the provision of care, recommendations and referrals while striving to increase professional knowledge, develop expertise and work toward certifications
  • Serves as a clinical leader by providing clinical supervision to team members seeking licensure as well as supervision/mentoring of graduate students during clinical internships. Mentors Behavioral Health Therapist 1 residents in training, Therapists II and III.
  • May engage in research and contributes to the specialty field of program/department/unit through the development/participation of research protocols, abstract writing and publications when identified and appropriate.

Requirements for consideration:

  • A Minimum of 5 years experience in mental health/substance use disordered, psychoeducation programming including brief, targeted, evidence-based interventions (crisis intervention, trauma, integrative therapies) with demonstrated success as a clinical supervisor.
  • A Master's Degree, Ph.D., PsyD, EdD in mental health, social work, Counseling, Substance Use Disorders or behavioral health-related field is required.
  • Must possess a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), PhD or PsychD Licensed Clinical Psychologist/ (LCP) or Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSATP) Licensure that is active and in good standing upon start
  • Certification Basic Life Support must be obtained from the American Heart Association within 3 months, and Certification from the Crisis Prevention Institute must be obtained within 6 months of hire
