The Lead General Radiology and Fluoroscopy (R&F) Technologist is responsible for the function, direction, staffing, planning and quality of the R&F sections and the respective site.

Responsibilities
    Supports the philosophy and objectives of Nationwide Children's Hospital and Radiology Department. Interprets these to patients, parents, and hospital staff.
  • Maintains overall functionality of the Radiology sections in designated facilities. This includes staff schedules, productivity, and quality of patient care.
  • Mentors, monitors, evaluates, and educates staff within section.
  • Interviews, recommends, the hiring, disciplining, and if necessary the dismissal of employees within the section.
  • Schedules, prepares patients, and performs procedures in accordance with established protocols.
  • Serves as liaison for departmental customer service to include internal and external contacts. This shall include appropriate speech, mannerisms and personal presentation as outlined in the Radiology Department Code of Conduct.
  • Monitors section organization and cleanliness. Responsible for and ordering of section inventories.
  • Plans, prepares, and reports continuous quality improvement information to the department CQI Coordinator.
  • Orients new employees and rotating students to section guidelines and policies. Educates and in services section staff on policies, protocols, and equipment changes.
  • Monitors compliance with radiation, magnetic field, and general safety policies.
  • Educates and monitors staff compliance with JCAHO, OSHA, and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Submits recommendations to the Operations Manager for section budgetary considerations.
  • Maintains knowledge of current applications in the field of Radiologic Technology, electronic imaging, and regulatory guidelines through seminars, educational programs, and self-study.
  • Serves as IRRP for designated facilities and works with the RSO to assure compliance with Ohio Administrative Code for radiation protection.
  • Shares in the responsibility of call with other Lead Radiographers for the Off Site facilities.
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Education:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited educational program for Radiologic Technology.

Licensure:

  • Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required (Active status).
  • Possession of a valid "R" category Ohio Radiological License.
  • Possess valid CPR certification
  • Travels between off site locations and will require valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years clinical experience in the Radiological Sciences; preferably in a pediatric setting.

Skills:

  • High level of communication and organizational skills to meet the demands of a modern pediatric Radiology department's patient care and customer service mission.
  • Constantly Typing on the Computer Keyboard
  • Constantly Standing or Walking
  • Constantly Sitting Occasionally (0-10)
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 40lbs (Occasionally)

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Standing/Walking/Sitting/Stooping/Kneeling/ Consistently (67-100%)
  • Reaching/BendingLifting/Carrying/Pushing/Pulling up to 50 lbs. Consistently (67-100%)
  • Talking/Hearing/Reading/Perform Manual Tasks Consistently (67-100%)
  • Move or Reposition patients of any weigh/size With assistance of another person and/or equipment Consistently (67-100%)
