LOCATION: Chantilly, VA

SUMMARY: The Senior Accountant will manage and support the daily operations of the corporate accounting functions on-site in Chantilly, VA. The Senior Accountant will prepare and record journal entries, deposit payments, file required fortnightly/ monthly/ quarterly/ annual returns, prepare financial statements, reconcile accounts, and process semi-monthly payroll.

  • Responsible for the general accounting and reporting activities of the organization.
  • Reconcile bank statements, reconcile general ledger accounts, prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries, prepare financial statements on a monthly basis.
  • Assist the Controller with day-to-day accounting needs.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports when needed.
  • Maintain the Fixed Assets including calculating and posting the depreciation, addition and disposal of fixed assets every month.
  • Calculating and posting the costs and revenue and prepare indirect cost rate schedules every month.
  • Perform functions for the month end close.
  • Prepare financial schedules for senior management.
  • Maintain stand-alone financial records and produce financial statements for French subsidiary.
  • Ensure compliance of foreign tax filings.  
  • Assist Controller with DCAA and company audits.
  • Maintain accurate processes and procedures for all reports and tasks.
  • Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Monitor compliance with company policies & procedures and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Perform any other accounting function on as-needed basis.
  • Help with the preparation of Incurred Cost submission to DCAA. 
  • Perform Payroll activities, including, but not limited to:
    • Review timecards from Costpoint T&E Module for accurate posting of time to projects and/or indirect charge codes.
    • Process semi-monthly timecards and then export to Costpoint for payroll processing.
    • Process payroll in Costpoint to reflect proper deductions and create ACH file to deposit salaries into employee accounts in a timely manner.
    • Reconciliations, labor & leave, payroll taxes
  • Make tax payments and other required state payments as required by Federal, State and Local jurisdictions. 
  • Prepare 941 and 940 forms and other tax reports for various States as required by Federal and State laws.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:  Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 4-5 years of accounting experience in a government contracting environment
  • Knowledge of GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Principles), accounting principles, and industry best practices
  • Experience with month-end close, GL, journal entries, reconciliations, audit support, AP/AR, financial reporting, and Payroll
  • Must have proficiency in Deltek Costpoint
  • Ability to resolve issues and make sound decisions which are in the best interest of employees, company, and the government customer
  • Capable of working independently or leading teams in the solving of problems
  • Must have excellent customer service and management skills, and ability to interface with management and employees
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment delivering results, while managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Must be a self-starter, detail oriented, work well with a team, and interact with multiple levels of management
