Behavioral Health Therapist I PRN

Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is seeking a Behavioral Health Therapist I PRN to join the team. This PRN (as needed) position anticipates an average of 1-2 weekdays each week and weekends for intermittent staff relief.

Requirements for consideration:

• Master's Degree, PhD, PsyD, EdD in mental health, social work, Counseling, or behavioral health-related field or degree.
• Internship in mental health or substance use disorder treatment completed within 90 days of employment.
• Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire
• Crisis Prevention within 6 months of hire

Job Responsibilities including but not limited to:

• The Behavioral Health Therapist 1 PRN assesses and diagnoses mental health and/or substance use disorders through a bio/psycho/social department specific and evidenced based assessment. Integrates assessments using information related to cultural, clinical, ethnic, age and other factors into the plan of care.
• Provides a range of therapeutic interventions, psycho-educational programming and behavioral interventions (when indicated) to assist the patient/family in achieving the goals and objectives of the individualized service plan.
• Provides care coordination to ensure the patient and family receive and are subsequently referred to appropriate healthcare and community resources to optimize treatment/intervention outcomes.
• May participate in inpatient and community psychoeducational programs, facilitate support groups for specified disease processes related to mental health, medical diagnosis, chronic or life-limited illnesses while assisting with community outreach.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
