Responsible for directing, supervising and coordinating patient care activities and nursing services of a nursing unit on a 24 hour basis. Monitor and assures proper patient care delivery in accordance with quality standards. Oversees and assigns patient care duties to nursing unit professional and support staff in order to maximize utilization of their time and abilities.

Principal Duties:

1. Provides departmental leadership for the operation of selected patient care departments within the Division to ensure the delivery of quality patient care.
2. Manages human resources. Ensures systems are in place to provide for developmental needs of staff.
3. Manages departmental fiscal responsibilities.
4. Demonstrates effective communications/human relations skills reflecting a team-oriented approach.

Located in Largo in the heart of Prince George's County, our new state-of-the-art regional medical center (UM Capital Region Medical Center) provides improved access to primary and ambulatory care services, and serves as a tertiary care center for critically ill patients. In addition, our new space allows us to expand our offerings as a community partner to help improve the health status of Prince George's County residents.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Current license in good standing as a Registered Nurse in Maryland or a compact state.
2. Bachelors of Science in Nursing
3. Master of Science in Nursing preferred
4. Certification in a specialty area is preferred.
5. Basic Life Support - Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
6. 3 - 5 years nursing experience
7. Progressive experience in nursing management.
8. Knowledge of regulatory standards, health care environment and trends, demonstration of leadership and empowerment principles and budgeting and fiscal control.
