Overview

BigBear AI is actively seeking to add a Junior Full Stack Developer to the BigBear team, to support software development for the Army Synchronization Tool (AST).

The position could be remote, hybrid (remote/on-site) or on-site. On-site location options include Crystal City, VA at the BigBear offices in the Taylor Building, or Ann Arbor MI, at the BigBear local office.


What you will do

  • Employ software development techniques and methodologies for solving tough analytical challenges in support of one of national security threats.
  • Use software development skills to automate manual analytical processes.
  • Opportunity to expand upon beyond specializations to include front end user interfaces, back end microservices, web services, cloud architectures, as well as databases and other persistent data stores.
  • Deploy developed IT solutions, user applications, databases, and other IT capabilities.
  • Design and develop specialized user solutions, applications and databases using a hybrid Agile approach within a DevOps environment.
  • Provide Tier 3 technical support for deployed applications and databases.
  • Knowledge of code versioning tools such as Git.
  • Experience with cloud message APIs and usage of push notifications.
  • Maintain code integrity and organization.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to design and launch new features. Includes coordination and documentation of deployment procedures, release plans, etc.
  • Keen interest in learning and using the latest software tools, methods, and technologies to solve real world problem sets vital to national security.
  • Support off-hours deployment such as evening or weekends.
  • Implement mission critical software in an integrated application environment from vision to production-ready system.
  • Learn new tools and techniques.
  • Identify and implement system improvements.
  • Develop JavaScript, Web Stacks, Libraries, and Frameworks that use front end technologies.
  • Build high performing applications.
  • Build high performing backend API services.
  • Build systems to change mission critical Defense operations for the better.
  • Additional opportunities to use & develop skills in company Hackathons.

What you need to have

  • Clearance: Active Secret Security Clearance, or the ability to get one.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar field, or 6+ years of experience with IT in lieu of a degree.
  • 3+ years of experience as a software developer in professional environments.
  • 1+ years of experience with software development of web applications.
  • 1+ years of experience with supporting, maintaining, and documenting software functionality.
  • DoD Directive 8570/8140.01 IAT/IAM Level 2 Certification such as Security+ (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire).
  • Experience with React, Node.JS, Angular, .Net and SQL.
  • Keen interest in learning and using the latest software tools, methods, and technologies to solve real world problem sets vital to national security.

What we'd like you to have

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or another STEM area.
  • 3+ years of experience with software programming in JavaScript scripting language.
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or another STEM area.
  • 1+ years of experience with programming data entry and complex display applications using React .
  • 1+ years of experience with programming applications to run in a Web environment comprised of Docker Node containers.
  • 1+ years of experience with SQL and writing SQL queries, especially creating complex data retrieval queries and transactional data updates.
  • 1+ years of experience with task scoping for the execution of each task.
  • Experience with JavaScript, Node.js, React, CSS and HTML.
  • Experience with Node.JS programming at scale or Cloud and GUI design and development.
  • Experience with identifying and leveraging open-source software to meet client needs where solutions already exist.
  • Experience with APIs, especially REST or RPC architectural styles
  • Experience with secure coding practices, including Static Code Analysis, Container. library analysis, or STIGs.
  • Experience with working on DoD programs.
  • Ability to understand front-end user requirements.
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Travel - Occasional CONUS travel, ~5% - 10%.
