We are seeking a Security Specialist with experience in Insider Threat to support the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Policy (OUSD(P)) Security Support Services.

To be considered for this position, an active Top Secret Security clearance with SCI eligibility is required.

The location of this work is the Pentagon, Reservation Arlington VA, Mark Center, Alexandria, VA and other Government sites, within the National Capital Region (NCR).

The OUSD(P)'s mission is to provide responsive, forward-thinking, and insightful policy advice and support to the Secretary of Defense, and the DoD, in alignment with national security objectives. Within OUSD(P), the Policy Security Directorate's mission is to provide comprehensive security support services in support of Policy's mission. As such, the Policy Security Directorate is committed to the pursuit of excellence, transparency, and accountability.

The Security Specialists' responsibility is to support all levels of OUSD(P) management and staff and other Department of Defense (DoD) and Executive Branch organizations. OUSD(P) action officers provide strategic planning and contribute to the development of Government policy for the DoD in their assigned foreign geographic or functional area of responsibility.

Required Skills / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or an additional 5 years of relevant experience with an associate degree or an additional 7 years of relevant experience with no degree
  • Minimum of four (4) years' experience in a security functional area. Strongly desired: At least five (5) years combined OSD, Joint Staff, or Service-level security experience.
  • Applicable training or equivalent from the Defense Security Service (DSS) Center for Development of Security Excellence (CDSE) within the past three years
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating with the DoD services and components to resolve complex security policy issues
  • Demonstrated ability to digest large volumes of complex data, conduct detailed process mapping and communicate and formally document findings and recommendations
  • Expertise in policy development; drafting, formatting, tracking, staffing, reviewing and reconciling inputs to DoD Directive(s), Instruction(s), Manual(s) and other publications; as well as reviewing other policy documents for personnel security equities.
  • Solid writing and project management skills are highly desired
  • Experience with handling classified correspondence, expert knowledge of Microsoft Office suite tools, knowledge of government and best business practices, and experience in writing, editing, and managing executive correspondence.
