Job Description

General Summary of Position
Assists customers with purchases and accurately operates cash register. Works primarily in the retail operation, handling cash and credit transactions. May provide support to the retail operation, including setup, maintaining supplies and products, and assisting in cleanup and closedown


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • At close of shift, closes out cash register, accurately completes daily worksheet, validates deposits, secures cash drawers and register keys in file cabinet, obtains batch report, prepares payroll deduction log for delivery to PFS, turns off lights and all equipment.
  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Maintains shop security. Is conscious of shoplifting and quick change artists. Never leaves a register unlocked for any reason. Maintains proper security of cash at all times. Always completes cash register counting in stockroom. Calls security if anyone in the area is suspicious or makes associate feel uncomfortable for any reason.
  • Operates cash register in an efficient, accurate manner. Performs sales by cash, charge and payroll deductions according to policies. Is knowledgeable of functions on charge machine.
  • Provides excellent customer service with a helpful, friendly and positive attitude.
  • If applicable, takes ownership as assigned for particular shop departments; may include display, inventory, ordering, checking in, pricing, etc.
  • May also be required to prepare for service before the meal and clean the dining room after the meal (wiping tables, vacuuming the floor, cleaning chairs, ensuring the acceptable appearance of the dining area).
  • May set up and stock assigned areas.
  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments. Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated. Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training if applicable.
  • May assist in locating, reconciling and verifying the accuracy of transactions and operating peripheral equipment that records and supports non-cash transactions.

  • Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED required or
    • equivalent. required

    Experience

    • 1-2 years Related experience required and
    • 1-2 years Related experience is preferred if working in food nutrition services preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Verbal and written communication skills.
    • Basic computer skills preferred.
