The H&S Family of Bakeries are a network of 10 bakeries and multiple distribution centers along the East Coast, all committed to one thing: producing the best quality bread products possible. H&S Family of Bakeries includes Northeast Foods, H&S Bakery and Schmidt Baking Co. Together, our baked goods can be found in a wide range of establishments, from fast food and quick service restaurants to cafeterias, hospitals, grocery stores and universities.

The Transportation Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of Transportation Operations for the plant, ensuring strict compliance with DOT, environmental, and GMP policies and procedures. This position involves managing the Transportation Department, coordinating with Private Label, and maintaining efficient scheduling and dispatching of products.
Primary Job Duties:
* Ensure strict compliance with DOT, environmental, and GMP policies and procedures for tractor-trailer drivers.
* Manage Transportation Department activities, collaborating with Private Label to ensure the timely handling and shipment of products.
* Review, process, and file all paperwork from previous day's routes, including payroll sheets, driver's logs, and inspection reports.
* Prepare and assess the operating budget.
* Confirm timely departure of all routes.
* Collaborate with Human Resources to recruit and hire qualified CDL Class A truck drivers.
* Foster open communication with the general plant manager and other department heads.
* Possess knowledge of investigation audits and procedures.
* Address customer-related issues promptly.
* Demonstrate leadership skills, project administration, strategic planning, excellent record-keeping, and inventory control.
* Facilitate departmental meetings and exhibit strong public speaking skills.
* Perform all other duties as required by the plant manager, transportation director, and owners.
Safety:
* Maintain a secure working environment for all employees/contractors.
* Promote safety in all areas of operations.
* Schedule and conduct safety meetings on a monthly basis.
Sanitation:
* Uphold cleanliness standards in the work area.
* Adhere to proper G.M.P.'s at all times.
* Ensures Proper Training:
Ensure all drivers receive proper training according to DOT Regulations and environmental laws.

Requirements & Physical Demands

Education: Bachelor's degree preferred; Commercial Driver's License - "A" required.
Qualifications:
* Experience: 2-3 years as a CDL Class "A" truck driver, with 2 or more years in a transportation supervisor or general supervision role in a plant.
* Education: CDL Class "A" license required; a bachelor's degree in management or a related field is highly desirable.
* Excellent bookkeeping and inventory skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* PC knowledge.
* Ability to stand for 10-12 hours per day.
* Physically capable of moving to all areas of the plant.
