Job Description

THOR Solutions is looking for a highly motivated Senior SolidWorks PDM Manager to support the US Navy in Arlington, VA or remotely. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing and developing naval crafts using SolidWorks Project Data Management software.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the SolidWorks PDM system, ensuring its efficient operation and optimization to support engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement PDM workflows, data standards, and best practices.
  • Oversee the configuration, customization, and administration of the SolidWorks PDM system to meet specific project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, training materials, and procedures related to PDM system usage.
  • Ensure data security, access controls, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to engineering teams in using the PDM system effectively.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve PDM system issues promptly to minimize workflow disruptions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in PDM technology to drive continuous improvement.

Location:Fully remote available. An ideal candidate will be local to THOR offices in Arlington, VA or Virginia Beach, VA and able to support some onsite time.

Secret Security Clearance Eligibility Preferred: This position does not require an active security clearance, but an active DoD Secret security clearance or eligibility for a DoD Secret security clearance is highly preferred.

Typical Physical Requirements: Primarily desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve: repetitive motion. Around 10% travel for visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve: traversing shipboard environments (e.g., confined spaces, ladders, hatches) or vision.

Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • At least ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of recent, relevant professional experience as a SolidWorks Modeler or similar role.
    • At least five (5) years of which is working as a SolidWorks PDM Manager, preferably in a defense or maritime environment.
  • Strong knowledge of CAD principles, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with DOD/NAVSEA contracts preferred.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks PDM software.
  • Familiarity with Navy, Coast Guard, or yachting industry standards and requirements.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with common productivity software such as the Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent communication skills.
