JOB DESCRPTION:

The Senior Director of Patient Access and Distribution will be responsible for leading a team to establish an access strategy, defining Trade/ Distribution and Patient Services for our lead product candidate.

This individual will be responsible for establishing and leading teams who will collectively determine Trade and Distribution strategy and execution as well as design and implementation of Patient Access Services related to the launch of our lead product. The role will work closely with leaders from the Market Access and broader commercial teams to develop and implement effective patient access solutions based on a deep and proactive understanding of patient needs and alignment with brand strategies. The role will lead and manage teams who oversee service providers to drive seamless delivery of product to patients. The candidate must be able to operate as a leader in a fast-paced organization, with high expectations and accountability on the quality and timing of the deliverables. The Senior Director of Patient Access and Distribution will report to the Head of Market Access and serve as an integral member of the Market Access leadership team responsible for shaping a patient-focused access strategy.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Recruit, train and develop teams that oversee successful execution of channel and patient support strategy
  • Responsible for building out and providing key strategic channel management, operating model, and management of Specialty Pharmacy (SP), Specialty Distributors (SD) / Wholesalers, and 3PL service agreements that optimize patient access and business profitability
  • Define build-out of Patient Support programs including hub, copay and free drug program and necessary team structure
  • Work with broader commercial teams to build best in class patient affordability & service solutions including reimbursement hub, co-pay, and associated support programs to optimize patient initiation and retention
  • Ensure Patient Access team has resources necessary to execute aligned plan
  • Establish vendor service requirements, performance metrics, and engagement.
  • Lead and managed teams responsible for all aspects of day-to-day vendor management and monitoring of performance and program Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain in demand forecasting and pharmacy fulfillment throughout pre-launch and post-launch phases of product to ensure successful implementation of the trade/distribution strategy
  • Analyze trade channel data/reports to support appropriate product supply, monitor inventory reports, and leverage custom data offerings to identify customer purchase patterns and channel trends.
  • Develop and manage Trade & Distribution and Patient Services budgets in line with the financial and strategic goals through efficient management of vendor partners and contractors
  • Lead Market Access market research efforts
  • Ensure operational execution of Patient Access Strategy are conducted within compliance
  • Partner with Commercial Ops and IT to develop a full suite of analytic tools (i.e. dashboards, channel data reports, etc.) to ensure market insights and analytics are integrated into access strategies/tactics
  • Provide leadership coordinating across cross-functional teams and vendors, communicate market updates and account performance to optimize department effectiveness
  • Cultivate strategies and tactics that optimize the patient and provider experience by providing actionable insights from monitoring market observations/trends, best practices, and customer learnings
  • Ensure regularly scheduled business review meetings with all partners are conducted on a regular basis and ensure that follow-up is communicated and executed internally and externally
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration with members of Market Access, Marketing, Commercial Ops, Sales, Accounting, Legal, Compliance, Finance, IT, Quality, and Supply Chain
  • Operate with a high degree of integrity, with compliance to all SOPs/policies that govern the conduct of [Company] activities, including Patient Privacy
  • Support hiring, training, and coaching of future team members that may be needed to support future needs

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in related field or science, MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • The successful candidate will have a successful track record as a leader in pharmaceutical market access, reimbursement, trade, payer, HUB services with 10+ years of relevant experience with increasing job responsibilities
  • Previous experience launching oncology drugs, particularly oral oncology experience preferred
  • Relevant experience with distributors, 3PLs, limited distribution networks, building and managing reimbursement hubs, co-pay and patient assistance programs
  • In-depth knowledge of, specialty pharmacy, payer, and patient services landscape
  • Experience negotiating and managing complex contracts, building infrastructure to capture and report actionable performance metrics, and successfully managing multiple partners
  • Ability to proactively analyze business problems, identify key issues, develop solutions, implement tactical programs, and design metrics to measure business impact
  • Familiarity with current legal and regulatory landscape pertinent to the industry
  • Outstanding customer relationship, interpersonal and communication skills with the established ability to effectively communicate across diverse audiences and influence cross-functionally
  • Patient-centric and customer service minded
  • Highly organized with strong project management skills
  • Ability to operate with a "roll-up-your-sleeves" mindset and excel in a fast-paced, innovative small company environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient

The base range for a SeniorDirector is $258,475- $294,409 per year. Individual pay may vary based on additional factors, including, and without limitation, job-related skills, experience, work location, and relevant education or training. Kura's compensation package also includes generous benefits, equity, and participation in an annual target bonus.
