Instrument/Controls Technician - $5000 sign-on bonus

Job Overview

Covanta Huntsville, AL is seeking a dedicatedElectrical and Instrumentation Technicianwho is a skilled, detail-oriented, and self-motivated individual withresponsibilities that may include but are not limited toinstallation, troubleshooting, cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and maintaining electrical, instrumentation, and distributive control (DCS) equipment throghout the facility safely and professionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • This individual must be able to respond and report to work during off hours when emergency repairs are needed; as well as work overtime, and on call for rotating shifts as needed.
  • This individual will have a strong electrical background, including experience in instrument calibration, PLC, and DCS programming/troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley SLC-500 and Control Logix).
  • This individual must also possess the skills for the maintenance, repair, and operation of field controllers, instrumentation, motor control centers, and other power plant electrical equipment ranging from 24 VDC to 13.8kV.
  • Background in Continuous Environmental Monitoring System (CEMS).

Qualifications: (what is required for someone to be successful in the position)

  • GED/HS Diploma required. Additional formal technical training or Military Electrical technical training is preferred
  • Proficient with Ladder Logic and or Function Block for PLCs (Siemens S7 1200, Allen-Bradley SLC-500 and Control Logix)
  • Ability to read and understand schematics
  • Experience repairing Crane electrical controls
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical systems
  • Maintaining Continuous Environmental Monitoring System (CEMS)

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently exposed to high temperatures and outside weather conditions
  • Working in a noisy and dusty environment
  • Frequently required to stand, sit, climb, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach
  • Climbing ladders and structures; must be able to tolerate heights

Schedule

During training (4-8 weeks) schedule will be Monday- Friday 6:00 am -2:30pm

After the training period this position will be an 8 or 10-hour day shift position. There is a rotating on call schedule and additional hours are scheduled during planned or unplanned outages; possibility of night support may be needed during this time.. This schedule is subject to change based on business needs.
