Embark on a career at the forefront of network security with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) as a Network Engineer. Join our esteemed team driving the modernization of the Joint Force Headquarters - Department of Defense Information Network (JFHQ DoDIN) security model through the adoption of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA). As a Network Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimizing secure network infrastructures to protect key mission systems against evolving cyber threats.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design, configure, and implement secure network architectures in alignment with ZTA principles, ensuring granular security of the DoDIN.
  • Provide expert-level support for network-related issues, including fault management, network/node outages, and performance parameters.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement ZTA solutions, accounting for orchestrator solutions to scale and protect existing and new systems.
  • Ensure the security and high availability of connections between internal networks and external networks, applications, and users.
  • Conduct thorough testing of new hardware and software proposed for deployment, ensuring functional and Information Assurance (IA) compliance.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • In-depth knowledge of network design principles, routing protocols, and network security best practices.
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices, including routers, firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto), switches, and network encryption devices.
  • Experience with Virtualization Technologies, Storage Technologies, and Web Proxy Infrastructures.
  • Strong familiarity with cybersecurity standards, DISA STIGs, and Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to provide Tier III support for network-related issues.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Extensive expertise in cybersecurity principles, practices, and ZTA solutions.
  • Proven experience in managing and implementing security controls, and in-depth knowledge of DISA STIGs, IAVA processes, and RMF standards.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to lead technical meetings, conduct advanced technical evaluations, and manage detailed project plans.
  • Mastery of security architecture, risk management, and compliance.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees are advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on implementing and maintaining secure network infrastructures.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or other related certifications are preferred.
  • Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance is required.
