Join our dynamic team working on the cutting edge of cybersecurity as a Mid-level Cybersecurity Engineer/Information System Security Officer (ISSO) in support of the Defense Information Systems Agency's (DISA) initiative to modernize the Joint Force Headquarters - Department of Defense Information Network (JFHQ DoDIN) security model through Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA). In this role, you will play a crucial part in implementing new security technologies, ensuring the protection of key mission systems and countering adversarial compromises.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Act as an ISSO to provide comprehensive cybersecurity support for the adoption of ZTA within the DoDIN.
  • Implement and manage security controls to safeguard information systems, ensuring compliance with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), DISA Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA), and Risk Management Framework (RMF) standards.
  • Collaborate with internal/external organizations, contributing to requirements and technical analysis.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute detailed project plans to track progress, ensuring on-time and within-scope delivery of data calls aligned with the DISA ZTA Strategy.
  • Conduct technical evaluations, coordinate relationships with third parties/vendors, and contribute to ZTA project documentation.
  • Provide technical support across all control layers, particularly in the areas of Program Management, Lab Development and Sustainment, and Software Development and Sustainment.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • In-depth understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices, with specific experience in the implementation of security controls and ZTA solutions.
  • Familiarity with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), IAVA processes, and RMF standards.
  • Proficiency in coordinating technical meetings, conducting technical evaluations, and maintaining detailed project plans.
  • Strong knowledge of security architecture, risk management, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with stakeholders.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cybersecurity, preferably in roles involving ISSO responsibilities.
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CompTIA Security+, or other relevant certifications are highly desirable.
  • Experience with ZTA or similar modern security architectures is a plus.
