Embark on a pivotal role as a Lead Editor/Technical Writer, shaping the narrative of the groundbreaking initiatives undertaken by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). Join our collaborative team dedicated to modernizing the Joint Force Headquarters - Department of Defense Information Network (JFHQ DoDIN) security model through the innovative adoption of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA). As the Lead Editor/Technical Writer, you will play a key role in communicating the intricacies of ZTA implementation, ensuring clarity, coherence, and precision in all technical documentation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead and manage the creation and editing of technical documents, ensuring alignment with DISA's communication and documentation standards.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather information and translate complex technical concepts into clear and comprehensible documentation.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive library of technical documentation, including manuals, guides, and reference materials related to ZTA.
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to style guides in all technical documentation produced by the team.
  • Review, edit, and provide constructive feedback on technical content to enhance clarity and quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand technical requirements and effectively communicate them in written form.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Proven experience in technical writing and editing, particularly in the field of information technology, cybersecurity, or related domains.
  • Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for grammar, punctuation, and formatting.
  • Proficiency in using documentation tools and software for efficient content creation and management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with subject matter experts, engineers, and other stakeholders to extract and convey technical information accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts in a clear and accessible manner.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Substantial experience in technical writing and editing roles, with a focus on cybersecurity or information technology.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts, Zero Trust Architecture, and related technologies is advantageous.
  • Certifications in technical writing or related fields are desirable.
