AARP Foundation's Economic Mobility team works to increase economic security and mobility of older adults with low income by designing and implementing person centered programs, innovative solutions, and equitable partnerships. These approaches support unemployed and low-wage workers, and aspiring entrepreneurs along their employment journey, placing them on the pathway to high-quality jobs or helping them create thriving businesses.

As the Director, Economic Mobility Solutions, you will lead in the discovery, designing, and implementing of new and enhanced initiatives, solutions, and partnerships that will increase economic security and mobility for low-income 50+ workers and build a highly skilled and multigenerational workforce. The Director will also collaborate with the Economic Mobility team and across Foundation departments to work on cross cutting program activities and solutions that align with and contribute to the department and Foundation's goals and strategic imperatives. You will lead in the development of strategy, outreach, and engagement of partnerships, with a particular focus on employer, business, industry associations, workforce intermediaries, and community led organizations. You will serve as a thought partner to scope, scale, and measure impact for these new and enhanced solutions, initiatives, and partnerships driving towards greater impact and systemic change.


Responsibilities

  • Develops, executes, and implements new engagement programs that align with the organization's goals and objectives. Lead the development and implementation of large scale, systemic and sustainable solutions. Sets strategies, identifies opportunities, and develops and implements projects and programs to support and market to the community.
  • Manages and analyzes voice-of-the-customer (VOC) data using industry VOC platforms to understand member experience delights and pain points. Utilizes human-centered design techniques, such as journey mapping, concept development, customer validation, and iterative testing to understand customer experience needs and to develop and implement new experience solutions. Designs and implements programs, services, products, and/or interactions that are part of a customer's experience.
  • Leads the planning and orchestration of frequent and ongoing delivery to customers of highly visible programs in virtual (online and call center) and in-person settings. Tasks include program selection, scheduling, staff assignments, and program performance tracking and reporting
  • Advises individuals and teams on how to best utilize tools to drive better outcomes for projects and teams. Provides direction and input into strategic planning including management, monitoring, and updating objectives, strategies and action plans. Conducts staff planning, hiring, management, and coordination.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams on strategic business unit objectives. Identifies opportunities for efficiencies in organizational processes or programs and resolves challenges to optimize results. Manage relationships with key stakeholders including external funders, partner organizations, and leadership and staff of different internal disciplines required to plan and deliver programming
  • Organizes, problem solves, raises issues, and integrates initiatives, solutions, and actions for management. Acts as a liaison to resolve problems and to ensure successful implementation of company initiatives.
  • Establishes and improves systems related to program quality, metrics tracking, program personnel scheduling and assignment, and budget planning and management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, entrepreneurship, social sciences or other related degree. 8+ years of experience in economic or workforce development, industry association or employer led initiatives, employment and training, social enterprise entrepreneurship related to employment. 4+ years of management experience; demonstrated experience motivating, managing, and inspiring a high-performing team.
  • Evidence of building new programs, initiatives, and solutions from inception to scale.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing and executing a partnership strategy and plan, including identifying, cultivating, and managing strong, sustainable relationships with partners and measuring their impact.
  • Ability to exercise sound business judgment and a familiarity with a wide variety of business models both in the for-profit and non-profit sectors, and the ability to see the potential application of these models in the context of social innovation.
  • Demonstrated ability to support a complex array of projects, operational and strategic goals. Ability to identify new market and funding opportunities
  • Familiarity with design thinking methodology and making data driven decisions based on research and analysis
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines, working on multiple concurrent programs requiring gathering, designing, and project planning/management.
  • Creative problem-solver, team player, with an entrepreneurial mindset. Established network in the employer and economic development space, preferred.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
