Faculty Compensation

Faculty - Biology. Biotechnology AS Program Lead Faculty

Lead Faculty are appointed to oversee academic programs. Lead Faculty serve as mentors to other faculty in their academic program and are expected to:

  • Provide mentorship to the faculty within the program
  • Complete all audits, programmatic reports required by the state
  • Lead the advisory committee for the specific academic program
  • Ensure academic quality
  • Develop and revise program and curriculum based on workforce needs and demands
  • Facilitate continuous improvement of course content and instructional methods.

The Biotechnology requires the Faculty member to have a Master's Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology or related field required.

This is a primarily onsite position located at the Clearwater campus but could require you to drive to various College-Campus locations and community events as needed.

You will need to establish Florida residency within 30 days from your start date if selected for this position.

Position Summary:

A faculty member at SPC has the primary function of instruction, coaching and student development. Secondary functions include assisting the college in developing and maintaining a quality program of instruction, providing service to the college and continuing professional development.

Requirements:

Education:

Master's degree or applicable college degree in related academic discipline. Doctorate degree preferred.

Experience:

Teaching experience preferred within molecular biology. Related work experience preferred for biotechnology technical programs.

  • Instructs students in accordance with college policies, procedures and approved curricula
  • Uses out-of-class duty hours effectively for class preparation, assisting students and participating in department/college activities
  • Serves the college through any of the following: (a) committee membership, (b) curriculum development, (c) development of innovative instruction, (d) sponsorship of student organizations, (e) representation of the college in professionally related community activities, and (f) special projects
  • Supports college extracurricular functions
  • Maintains currency in teaching field(s) through professional development and scholarly activities
  • Demonstrates a professional, cooperative and considerate attitude toward students, colleagues and staff
  • Performs related duties as required
