As a Site Reliability Engineer with Octo, you will join an Agile program in support of the development of a new high priority, mission-critical application at the General Services Administration. You are a cross-functional DevOps specialist who provides pipeline and deployment automation and support. You will provide middle-tier support, tool management, and operating system administration. You are agile, fearless, enthusiastic, empathic, and relentless in the pursuit of continuous improvement.

The Program Mission...

This program will support the General Services Administration's Information Technology mission to provide development and operational support of new and existing legacy mission-enabling applications. The team will work to modernize current applications by breaking them down into loosely coupled micro-services and leveraging a continuous integration / continuous delivery pipeline to enable an agile DevOps Strategy.

Skills & Requirements

Requirements...

  • 6+ years overall experience in technology. Government consulting experience desired but not required
  • 5+ years of experience working with core AWS services such as S3, EC2, RDS, SQS, etc...
  • 3+ years of experience working with observability / APM systems such as DataDog, Cloudwatch, etc..
  • 5+ years of production experience working with containerized applications, Kubernetes and related ecosystem of tools such as StackRox
  • 3+ years of experience deploying and managing automated build / release pipelines and CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, SonarQube, GitHub
  • 5+ years of python development
  • 3+ years working in a Linux environment
  • 5+ years of experience supporting distributed microservices in Kubernetes (EKS preferred)
  • Experience working in an SRE environment
  • Experience integrating automated tests and gate checks in to build / release pipelines
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Expertise in Agile development approaches including Scrum and Kanban
  • Resourcefulness and ability to independently learn about new tools, technologies and best practices
  • Ability to rapidly troubleshoot complex technical problems across distributed systems

Desired Skills...

  • Certifications in AWS / Kubernetes
  • Proficiency in additional programming languages such as javascript/typescript (node), java, shell scripting
  • Managing / working with Postgres and ability to write SQL
  • Kafka / MKS
  • Elasticsearch
  • DynamoDB
  • AWS Lambda
  • Experience deploying / supporting and working with REST APIs in Kubernetes
  • Experience with NIST compliance frameworks and AWS GovCloud Years of Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience preferred

Education: Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years of experience or 7+ years of experience.

Location: Remote

Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust is required.
