Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Orthopaedic Institute Practice Supervisor and Manager, guided by policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the clinical staff and the physician leadership, the Hospital Assistant II assists in the delivery of care to patients in an ambulatory multi-specialty group practice. Work includes a variety of personal care and nursing procedures including assuring positive care outcomes. S/he will perform assigned patient care and laboratory procedures in support of the primary and specialty care services provided to patients within the practice. S/he is required to adhere to the Telephone and House Standards as adopted by the Medical Center. Exemplary customer service is essential.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications

  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
  • Ability to work in busy, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse professional and patient population.
  • Ability to understand and communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Willingness to learn new task.
  • Ability to organize and effectively set prioritie
  • Knowledge of medical terminology appropriate to the responsibilities of the job.
  • High School Diploma or GED certificate.
  • Prior experience in medical office environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited Medical Assisting program
  • Phlebotomy certification

License/Certification

  • Certified Medical Assistant
